Microsoft has announced the new LifeCam Cinema, the first consumer webcam to offer widescreen video with a native 720p sensor. That means that it will record at 1280Γ720 resolution. This camera also features Auto Focus, which keeps video sharp no matter how far the distance from the LifeCam β from 4 inches to infinity. It will be available next month for $80.

That — is for a webcam. Yikes.
Well when you think about it, the computer needed to run this will have to have enough power to code HD video efficiently. I think this is great. It won’t be long before we have crazy high-res conversations through IP.
