  2. I have used many EEE pcs. But my favorite netbook and current one is the HP 2140. I like the metal casing and look of it. Though I wish I waiting for the High rez version instead of the standard one that I have.

  3. My favorite netbook is the HP 2140. Fast, small, light weight, great keyboard. But why does the power cord weigh almost as much as the netbook??

  4. The MSI Wind 100 is perfect for me. Light, easy to handle and powerful enough to do all my daily jobs.
I even use this wonder for the development of professional Excel applications!
I’m just missing a proper sleeve.

    Ruud.

  5. My favorite netbook is my MSI U100 running Mac OS X 10.5.7. I used it on a two month trip to Europe to eMail friends, edit photos I took, and to upload my photos using Picasa for my friends to see. While there I even dropped it about two and one-half feet down and it still worked fine.

  6. At this point I’m looking. The ASUS Eee PC 1000HE looks good. I’m wanting something small enough to easily carry, but large enough to easily type on.

My first neybook was an ASUS 901XP, but I didn’t like the memory configuration or the extra cramped keyboard. I currently have an HP Mini 1000 and I am very happy with it. Both of my issues from the 901 are fixed, I just wished the HP Mini had a little longer battery life. I love my Mini!!

I’d have to say the Asus EeePC 1000HE. I think Asus has finally stepped up with a form factor that is sleek and good-looking enough and doesn’t look like the early ’90s Apple notebook I used to have, as their other models tended to look. Put that all together with top-o-the-line netbook configuration and all-day battery life and you’ve got yourself a fine, sub $400 deal.

  9. To me, the new Asus 1008HA is an (almost) perfect netbook within the boundaries of today’s technology (poor graphics, 10″ screen, small keyboard, etc.).

And since I use netbooks nearly exclusively for writing and net surfing they are perfect for me, a 60+ year old man with a bad back who lives in a city and travels almost exclusively by bicycle with the computer in a backpack.

Light (2.4 lbs), elegantly designed (~1in thick), bright screen, useable, well laid out keyboard (92%), 5-6 hour battery life, large trackpad dimpled to make it more tactile with multiple finger technology enhancement to make it more powerful, 160 GB storage with an Atom 280 cpu … what more could one want? In fact, I ordered one.

But, then returned it without opening the box and that took great restraint.

The problem is that they made the unit utterly impossible to modify without voiding the waurantee. I require 2 GB memory as I normally have as many as a dozen internet windows open at once plus several MS Word windows and a possibly one or two more from other aps. Quite simply, 1 GB does not work. Waiting for screen refresh would drive me mad … I have tried it and ended up mumbling into my latte. However, with 2 GB a netbook hums along quite acceptably for me … I have tried that too and the experience makes me smile.

So why Asus clearly spent so much design time to produce such an elegant product and then left the access door off of the back case half so one must take the unit entirely apart and most of its components out of the case to access the memory slot is a mystery to me. To make matters even worst, several of those thin, little yellow tabs with “tearing voids warrantee” on them is between the open case and the memory slot just begging to be torn. Frankly, it makes no sense.

So, sadly, I sent it back. It felt like breaking up with a lovely woman because she refused to ride the bus … painful, but necessary.

It was very hard to do. Especially without touching it first.

  10. I just recently got an Asus Eee 1000HE and absolutely love it. The 6 cell battery is great for traveling and with the four weddings I am attending this summer, the timely purchase two weeks ago (right before my songs wedding) worked out perfectly!

  11. Currently my favorite netbook is the HP Mini 1000, I have owned two Netbooks so far, one is the Acer Aspire One and the HP Mini 1000. It seems that Acer have more problems than the HP Mini 1000.

  12. I have the HP Mini 1000 on my wishlist. My birthday is coming up so I’d love to win a sleeve. Thanks for the chance.

  13. I have several I like: The Acer Aspire One (8.9″), the Dell Inspiron Mini 10, and the HP Mini 1000. Of the three, I think the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 edges the others out, but not by much.

  14. Andrew Albinger

My wife has the HP Mini 1000. It is awesome. She would love a hot pink sleeve for it!

  15. I like my Acer Aspire One netbook because it is so lightweight. I carry it everywhere without the muscle required by full size notebooks. It can fit easily in my purse and has a screen that provides easy to read text.

  16. I am going to be buying my son a Netbook for his birthday but he doesn’t know it yet, lol. I am leaning towards either a Dell or an HP but not exactly sure what model yet. The blue or black sleeve would be cool for him-

  17. Matt Srisamart

My favorite netbook will have to be the Acer Aspire One, because well– I ordered one, and I’ll get it Wednesday! So if I can win a sleeve, it’ll come in handy! 😛

  18. Just purchased the Asus 1000he (hasn’t arrived yet…Amazon tells me friday!) Love a new sleeve to go with my first netbook purchase…

  19. I’ve had my MSI Wind for 9 months. I got it originally to use while traveling, but have ended up using it on a daily basis as an alternative to my desktop. It’s extremely portable and has a great battery life. It does all the things I need in a great package.

  20. I’m loving the HP Mini 1035NR. It’s a fun little machine for on the go, and Windows 7 works great on it!

  21. I preordered my 1008HA white- my first netbook- because it had the style and portability I desired. I’d love a nice case for it 🙂

  22. I have a MacBook and and Acer Aspire One running Win XP. When I travel I find the Acer much more convenient. And the fact it runs XP makes it more compatible with mainstream apps. The MacBook is for using at home and at the office. I find it it a bit heavy for traveling.

  23. My sister and I have the Asus 1000HA, and my husband and daughter both have the MSI Wind.
We love the small size and portability of them!

  24. I have been waiting for the Eee PC 1008HA‏. Thin and portable with just enough room to use it on the go (160GB HD) and with my usbdrives. And the battery life is 6 hrs.

I wish to buy an Asus eee pc 1000HE. I am looking now for the best deal price wise. I did purchase and Acer Aspire One in ruby red. But was disappointed by how dark the screen was…so i returned it. Hopefully I will buy this week.

  26. I have a samsung Q1 which is tablet format. Also have a MSI wind. Gave sisters EEEs (or is that “eeeeeee”?). I like the Q1 since the netbook keyboards are just so tiny.

  27. I have the HP Mini 1116NR, really have taken to it, it’s become my main computing device, and at the moment, I don’t have any protection for it!

  28. I don’t have a netbook, but the one that I want would have to
be very similar to the Lenovo ThinkPad X200s that I got recently. (Lenovo
is rumored to be offering a Celeron M version of the X200s for
~$1,000, which would make that version a netbook IMHO.)
The X200s is 2.43 lbs with a 4 cell battery (up to 4.4 hr life with XP,
    4.2 hr w/ Vista), 2.71 lbs with a 6 cell, and 3.05 lbs with a 9 cell.
It has a 12″ screen, a full size keyboard (same as the ThinkPad T
series), Core 2 Duo 1.8 GHz CPU, up to 4 GB RAM, and a 160 GB
7200 rpm 2.5″ SATA hard disk (or you can put in an SSD or a 500
    GB 7200 rpm hard disk).

  29. I have an HP Mini 1030NR. Like the SSD. Slower than I would like, so I’m very much looking forward to the next gen.
