ARCHOS Announces the GamePad Gaming Tablet

I want to see a show of hands… who remembers the Tapwave Zodiac Palm OS PDA? Back in 2003 it was a very cool device that merged a  PDA with built in gaming controls. The new GamePad from ARCHOS reminds me a little bit of the Zodiac because it offers a full set of analog gaming buttons. I love my iPad, but playing action games really would benefit from a physical joystick. I’ve tried a few of the stick on solutions, which do improve things a little, but it’s still not the same as dedicated buttons. The GamePad features a 7-inch, capacitive screen, a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor, Mali 400mp quad-core Graphics Processor, physical control buttons and analog sticks. I’m not finding any info on how much memory it has and if the controls will work with all games, or only those specially designed to use them. The GamePad will be available at the end of October for less than 150€ ($188).

@John I think the two round buttons below the group of 4 buttons is a joystick.

Archos’ devices don’t have the best reputation as of late, but I would still get this over the Wikipad.
