Design and features

As I mentioned earlier, multi-device chargers just make a lot of sense. I like the convenience of having one charging device that uses one cable, that uses one power brick, that uses one electrical outlet. There are many such devices on the market, and I’ve used my fair share of them. I have about a half dozen desktop or portable chargers that I use either while traveling or in various rooms in our house. So how is the HyperJuice Qi2 3-in-1 Charger different than those devices, and are those differences worth it?

First, let’s talk charging. The HyperJuice Qi2 3-in-1 Charger supports the Qi2 charging standard. I list some of the benefits in the Performance section below, but in a nutshell, Qi2 is faster than the older Qi standard, and it uses magnets to properly align devices for charging. Apple calls this MagSafe, but the Qi2 standard is for all phones, not just iPhones. Qi2 supports up to 15W of wireless charging. Incidentally, the newest Qi2.2 standard supports up to 25W of wireless charging! The flip-out Apple Watch charger supports 5W. I believe the “fast charging” wattage for some Apple Watches is between 7-9W. The wireless earphone charging also supports 5W.

The next aspect to consider is the physical size of the charging device. If you plan on using the device on a desk or nightstand, then you’ll want something with a little more heft so the device stays on the table top when you pull off the phone. For traveling, you’ll ideally want something lighter, and that folds down into a slim, compact form. In the case of the HyperJuice Qi2 3-in-1 Charger, I would say that it’s best suited for tabletop use due to its heft and inability to collapse into something slim. You can throw the HyperJuice Qi2 3-in-1 Charger into a duffel or carry-on bag, but for backpacks and sling bags, there are more portable options. The HyperJuice Qi2 3-in-1 Charger doesn’t collapse and will generally keep its rectangular cube shape.

The included documentation states that the HyperJuice Qi2 3-in-1 Charger supports the Apple Watch, Apple AirPods, and any Qi2-supported phone. If you play in the Apple ecosystem, this is a great option.

Assembly, Installation, Setup

The setup for the HyperJuice Qi2 3-in-1 Charger is pretty straightforward. There are only 2 adjustable pieces: the top phone section pivots your phone for viewing angles from 180º (horizontal) up to 90º (vertical), and the flip-out Apple Watch charger. Like most portable electronics recently, the HyperJuice Qi2 3-in-1 Charger does not come with a charging brick. Although a 3 ft or 1 m USB-C to USB-C charging cable is included. The documentation states that a PD 27W or above adapter is recommended.

Performance

I did a little research into the Qi2 charging specifications and found these benefits:

  • Magnetic Power Profile: basically MagSafe for all devices – allows for proper alignment for charging
  • Faster Charging: 15W, but the newer Qi2.2 supports 25W charging
  • Device Agnostic: no difference between Apple and Android use

Final thoughts

So is the HyperJuice Qi2 3-in-1 Charger the perfect multi-device charger for you? I would say yes if:

  • You use Apple devices
  • You plan to use the HyperJuice Qi2 3-in-1 Charger on a desk or nightstand

I plan on keeping it on my desk to keep my phone topped up and propped up to see alerts and notifications, as well as to have a convenient, ready-to-go option to charge up my AirPods and Apple Watch.

What I like about the HyperJuice Qi2 3-in-1 Charger

  • Qi2 speed
  • 3 device charging
  • Single cable design

What needs to be improved?

  • Slightly bulky as a portable charging device
  • No power brick included
