Brabantia foldable laundry basket review

REVIEW – We are officially entering a new stage of life, sending our firstborn to college.  Our schedules have now added college visits, coach calls, financial aid forms, and scholarship applications.  Going along with that, we have visited a few dorm rooms and recognize that her space will be very limited for her items.  One thing she does a lot of, as an athlete, is laundry!  So, when a review for a collapsible laundry basket was offered, I jumped at the opportunity to check it out and see if it would be a must for her dorm life.

Design and features

The Brabantia foldable laundry basket is a 40L capacity foldable bin.  When not in use, as the name suggests, it easily collapses/folds flat for easy storage.  While advertised for use as a laundry option, it really could just be advertised as a collaposable storage bin to use as needed in your life or home.

The material used in construction of the Brabantia basket is water-resistant.  This allows you to put dry or wet laundry in it with no concern.  While I normally can just transfer at home from the washing machine directly into the dryer, in the dorms she will have to move her items wet accross the room, making that a feature that stands out.  The basket being water-resistant is also beneficial when thinking about using the product for other storage solutions.  The material is easily wiped clean with a damp cloth preventing it from stains and hopefully unwanted smells, depending on what you are storing.

There are three cutout handles, as well as a rim of honey-hued bamboo, around the top of the Brabantia foldable laundry basket allowing you a few carrying options.  You can use the handles in multiple ways or rest it on your hip while moving it from location to location.  It holds up and transports easily and comfortable.

The Brabantia foldable laundry basket comes with a 2 year warranty.  The warranty covers any issues caused by materials, construction or manufacturing defects.  If something happens during that time frame, Barbantia will repair or replace the product for free.  You will need to have your proof of purchase for warranty claim that shows where it was purchased (retailer’s name) and date of purchase.  Note: the warranty does not cover damage from misuse or if you attempt to repair it yourself.  Submit a request on the Barbantia website.

Final thoughts

While advertised as a laundry basket, the Brabantia foldable laundry basket can be used as a storage bin for other items around the home in addtion to laundry.  I think it is a nice solution sending it to college for my daughter to see if that size can work for her as a solution for laundry or could be a nice storage bag to move items from one location to another. Overall, while I do believe the product is well made, stylish and functional, I would not purchase it at the current price for what it is.
