Playing this game when you’re a little kid is fun, but after a certain age, it’s no longer a game that most kids and adults find interesting anymore. GiiKER has changed that with the Tic-Tac-Toe Bolt. Let’s take this 3-in-1 game for a spin!

What is it?
The Giiker Tic-Tac-Toe Bolt is a battery-powered game that takes the ageless Xs and Os game to the next level.

Design and features
The Bolt is a small plastic box with a touch-enabled tic-tac-toe grid on top. On the front is a slider switch that allows you to choose from the infinite tic-tac-toe game with a robot, a head-to-head human infinite tic-tac-toe game, and a memory flash game that is kind of like the classic Simon game from the late 70s.
It’s powered by 2 AA batteries, which, unfortunately, are not included in the package. I wish GiiKER would consider making this a rechargeable game.
The infinite games are tic-tac-toe with a twist. After each turn, the oldest placed “piece” disappears. There are also simple sound effects after each tap and when someone wins. The head-to-head mode is the same except that you need two people to play.
The memory flash mode will light up consecutive places on the grid, and then you have to tap them again in the correct order. It reminds me of the Simon game, only in a smaller form factor. After each round, it gets harder with longer sequences to remember and play back.

In addition to the electronic games, you can also play a game with physical pieces. The GiiKER Tic-Tac-Toe Bolt lid can be removed to reveal a set of pieces and a grid that you can use to play the cover-up tic-tac-toe game.
In this game, you play it like the tic-tac-toe game, but you can cover smaller pieces with large pieces for a new twist on the traditional version of the game.
Of the three games, my favorite is the infinite tic-tac-toe game in robot mode. I also like the cover-up game, but it’s not as convenient to play since you need to assemble the grid on a flat surface. It would be cool if GiiKER added an electronic version of the cover-up game to the unit.

Final thoughts
The GiiKER Tic-Tac-Toe Bolt game shakes up a classic game that most of us left behind in elementary school and manages to make it fresh again. I love that this little device packs three different ways to play, with both electronic modes and a hands-on, cover-up version using real pieces. It’s super portable, which makes it a fun pick for road trips, family get-togethers, or even a quick brain break at your desk.
I do wish it came with batteries or, better yet, a rechargeable option, and a mute switch would make it perfect for playing anywhere. Still, if you’re looking for a twist on a familiar game that can entertain both kids and grownups, the GiiKER Tic-Tac-Toe Bolt is a clever pick that proves you’re never too old for a game of Xs and Os.
