REVIEW– I’m pretty sure my cat thinks she’s a princess, and as an entitled snob, she will only drink out of the faucet in the bathroom. While most cats seem content with a bowl of water or a toilet bowl, I needed to find something different for my cat. The Petlipo Cordless cat water fountain has made my fluffy feline a happy kitty. She can now drink clean, fresh water, anytime and without waiting for someone to turn on the faucet.

Design and features
The Petlipo cordless cat water fountain has been amazing. With a 5000mAh rechargeable battery the fountain can last up to 30 days. The water ran out before the battery did.
I love that this water fountain gives you the freedom to place it wherever you want. Now my cats have access to clean running water, and I don’t have to constantly turn on the faucet, or clean up spills.
There are three different modes for the water fountain. There is a mode that, while plugged in, will dispense a constant stream of water. The second mode is motion-activated, and when movement is detected, it will start running water for 20 seconds and keep water going until no movement has been detected for 20 seconds. The last mode is a mix of the two, and will turn on every 15 minutes for another 20 seconds, or when motion is detected, it will start the cycle again. Even when the fountain was sitting in my kitchen with a constant flow of movement, the battery was a boss and I never needed to plug it in.
The unit itself is black, which I feel helps to reduce the algae problem, but also can make the water a lot warmer when sitting outside. We have a small cathouse that I can hide the water and food dispensers in. It helps protect from unwanted visitors, and also keeps everything more regulated.
After using the cat fountain for about two weeks I wanted to check the filters and just see how they were holding up. My twins had added a bunch of things to the water, but the pump was saved from any damage, thanks to the awesome design and filters, and after a good rinse the filters seemed as good as new.
There is a nice little window in the front of the basin that shows the level of the water. The design is something else, in a good way. It is easy to forget that someone had to think about all the potential things that could go wrong, and try to accommodate for everything.
The setup is so simple, but brilliant. There is a large water basin where the small cordless water pump and filter sit. The basin can hold 2.5L, or 85 oz. Above that is a layer with slits that water can pass through, but large debris does not. The large filter is placed in this layer. The top layer is a shallow bowl-like item with a place for a spout that brings water up from the basin. Even when the water isn’t running, there is a small amount of water waiting in the bowl. Another slit is placed in this top layer that continues to let the water flow through the different layers.
The setup also allows for easy cleanup, and that’s something we can all appreciate. No one wants to spend more time cleaning than absolutely necessary. All the pieces, except the battery base, are washable and don’t have small places that are hard to clean. The pieces all fit together nicely, and seem to be snug enough, but it might be nice to have a click, or snap, or something saying that the pieces are in place and won’t be moving until you take care of it. I have found the spout part off to the side once or twice. I didn’t snug it in hard enough I guess.
I love how quiet this fountain is also. It can be running all day, but until it is almost out of water, I don’t even realize that it is doing its thing.
Assembly, installation, and setup
Before filling the reservoir, ensure it is completely washed and rinsed so the filters don’t get plugged up. While washing the basin, soak the filters for at least minutes. Once those two things are done, the rest of the setup is simple.
Place the cordless water pump with the small filter in the bottom of the reservoir. Place the large filter on the second layer, and cover it with the lid and water spout. Then place the whole unit on the battery base and it’s ready to go. I would suggest making sure the base is already turned on and the setting you want is already chosen. It’s easier to do it first and not have to continually be moving and potentially spilling water.
Once the base is charged, you can decide to leave it plugged in, or unplug it and move it to any location.
Final thoughts

I’m no longer worried about my cats getting the water they need. In fact, I think they get much more water now that it is so readily available, and feels fresher. I can charge the battery once a month and fill the water as needed. I don’t have to think about wasting water or cleaning up all the puddles. This machine is quiet and so efficient. Now I’m not wasting water, electricity, or my time trying to keep my cats hydrated.
