NEWS – Do you want to get a truly unique gift for a loved one this holiday season? The Gita Mini certainly fits the bill. It is a robot that follows you around carrying up to 20 pounds of your stuff for you. It uses “computer sensor vision to pair to its user and follow them with the touch of a button”. It uses an array of cameras and sensors to detect and follow you while also detecting and avoiding obstacles. It doesn’t need a GPS or tracking device, but you need the Gita app to register the device before its first use. After that, you don’t need the app to use the robot.

The Gita Mini can travel up to six miles per hour and will follow you at a comfortable distance, increasing or decreasing speed according to your pace. It is capable of traveling up to 21 miles on one charge of its lithium-ion battery and only takes two hours to fully charge it.

The Gita Mini is self-balancing and when on a hill or ramp (up to 16% incline), the wheels shift forward or backward accordingly. It can handle “moderately uneven surfaces such as hills, gravel, grass, dirt, and concrete, but things like sand, snow, mud, or extra-tall grass will trip it up.”

The following video shows how it works:

Looks pretty awesome, eh? The Gita Mini will set you back $2475.00 on the Piaggio Fast Forward website; but you better make sure that you really want one because if you decide to return it within the 30-day return window, you will lose $500 off of your refund for the restocking fee.

If you decide to purchase one, leave a comment to let me know what you think of it. I’d also be interested to know if your dog ends up being jealous of (or confused by) your new pet robot…
