Design and Features
If you’re even a little like me, you find satisfaction in the way a good cleaning fluffs the knap in a rug, relieves a little bit of nagging OCD from that renegade nugget of kitty kibble that’s, managed to evade your robotic housemate, and oh, so subtlety, changes the color of the sofa cushions once the house bunny’s errant dander has been eradicated.
(Who… me?)
Ok, maybe you don’t have a house bunny, but we can all use at least a smidgen of added swagger to our sweeping so I looked forward to the arrival of Aspiron’s AS-CA006 variable-speed canister vacuum.
It arrived in cardboard happiness without bumps or bruises.
I appreciated the use of recyclable packaging.
Powering the Aspiron AS-CA006 variable speed canister vacuum is a five-meter (16.5-ft) retractable cord. Extending the cord is just a pull, but depending on the surface the canister is resting upon, you might find it necessary to place a stabilizing hand on the vacuum’s body to prevent it from taking it for a walk.
The cord is retracted with the press of a big button.
The power switch is large and can be pressed with a foot, even if you’re not one of the Radio City Rockettes.
The canister is equipped with large rear wheels that spin with little effort, but not so much as to cause the vacuum to skitter away when the hose is pulled
A single spinning caster on the bottom of the Aspiron AS-CA006 variable speed canister vacuum ensures it will follow where you go.
The hose connects to the vacuum body with a satisfying click. Sometimes I find that once connected, some plastic parts tend to not want to come apart again. This wasn’t the case with the Aspiron vacuum. I appreciated not needing to fight with parts to disassemble them for storage.
I took a great liking to the telescopic wand. A latch on the side allows it to be extended or retracted with very little effort. Notches in the wand’s housing firmly lock into place. It’s solid but easy enough to change without being cumbersome.
Assembling the Aspiron AS-CA006 variable speed canister vacuum was painless. The crevice nozzle, upholstery brush, and small brush attachments are all friction fit. Like the hose, the attachment was snug, but not “stuck.” The vacuum body does not have onboard storage for the hand tools.
Starting with the “Pet Powermate” nozzle, it’s not motorized, but the vacuum suction spins a turbine inside that drives a brush bar. I was pleasantly surprised at the speed of the rotation and used it to remove a bunny’s worth of dander from his favorite chair.
The rubbery brushes on the Pet PowerMate can be rotated out of the way by unlocking a latch on the side. This allows the brush bar to make more contact with the surface being cleaned and should be great for car floor mats that are pregnant with boot-borne dirt from a long winter.
Initially, I was a bit worried about the possibility of hair and gunk eventually inhibiting the rotation of the Pet PowerMate’s brush but was very happy to see if can be completely disassembled for cleaning.
I used the small brush to clear around the chair’s spindles. All ok here!
The crevice tool worked to pull hair from between the cushions of our sofa. It’s on the short side, but effective nonetheless.
The upholstery brush has a pair of red fuzzy bits on the leading and trailing edge of the attachment. The nozzle worked well on my cushions, but with the spinning brush, the “Pet PowerMate” brush worked better.
The Aspiron AS-CA006 variable speed canister vacuum’s floor-sweeping head is not motorized. The upper floor of my home is almost entirely hardwood, so it’s not a big deal. Not having a motorized head means no wires are passing through the hose, fewer mechanical parts, and less to go wrong.
There is a large toggle on the top of the floor nozzle that extends and retracts brushes on the bow and a squeegee at the stern to help with the duties of sweeping.
I was well impressed at the amount of bunny and hair trapped by the brush. Nicely done, Aspiron!
When not in use, the floor cleaning head can be stored onboard.
On the maiden voyage, I swept three rooms moderately sized rooms, one carpeted, two with hardwood floors. Despite my Neato vacuum passing through these rooms a few hours prior, the amount of crud the AS-CA006 pulled into the bin is remarkable.
On several occasions using both the hand tools and floor cleaning head, the vacuum produced enough suction to lift cushions and rugs from their resting places. “Awesome power” from the Simpson’s “Mr. Sparkle” commercial came to mind.
If pulling carpets from your vacuum’s maw isn’t your cup of tea, Aspiron has thought of that – atop the canister is a variable speed control dial. This works very well. The reduced flow is great for delicate surfaces like dusting house plants, drapes, and lampshades. Yes, I vacuum my lampshades. I told you I was a neat freak. Don’t judge me.
After hungrily devouring wayward sesame seeds, sidewalk gravel, pajama threads, and an occasional thumbtack, the dust container unlocks and flips open effortlessly, releasing its captured contents. The positioning of the handle is ideal.
Behind the Aspiron AS-CA006 variable speed canister vacuum’s dustbin resides the suction and HEPA filters. I especially appreciated the ease of removal of the filters. No tools, no complications, no fuss and they come out with the bin. This is an effective design.
There is one more HEPA filter on the canister’s back end that can be removed by releasing the button on the cover.
The vacuum can be carried vertically or horizontally using the handles on the dust bin or top of the canister. The vacuum is of comfortable weight and my 88-lb had no trouble managing it.
If you happened to notice moisture inside the dustbin, don’t worry. I rinsed it for the photos.

Final Thoughts
Aspiron’s AS-CA006 canister vacuum represents an exceptional value, has powerful suction, and is elegant in its utility. I was enthralled with the straightforward design, effortless assembly, and simple maintenance. I have no doubt I will have years of banishing dirt to the “land of wind and ghosts” with this machine.

I loved your review! Well, I don’t have a house rabbit but, I do have a house pigeon, who tends to be quite messy…where do ALL those feathers come from, he should be bald by now!
How do I buy replacement filters. We need them asap for our cleaning company vac’s.
