REVIEW – I do not have a lot of room in my home for a full-size desk, and I am always on the lookout for a portable solution. Recently, I was offered the chance to review a portable lap desk that is designed to be used comfortably from your couch or bed. It can’t get any better than that, right? Let’s check out the Couchmaster CYWORX and see if it can transform my couch or bed into a comfortable workspace.
What is it?
The Couchmaster CYWORX is a lap desk designed for notebooks or laptops up to a size of 17-inches.

Design and features
The Couchmaster CYWORX lap desk consists of 3 pieces, a bamboo lapboard, and 2 memory foam support cushions.
The lapboard is made of environmentally friendly, sustainable bamboo and is very lightweight. There is a ventilation grille on the left side that ensures proper cooling of your laptop.
On the right side, there is a tablet/phone holder.
There are ergonomic wrist pads on either side of the lapboard.
The memory foam cushions are covered by a rugged yet soft twill material. There is a zipper on the bottom of each cushion so that it can be easily removed and washed if it becomes soiled.
On the left cushion, there is a mesh pocket for your laptop’s power supply and another pocket for accessories. Additionally, there is a mouse pocket that can be attached to the front of the desktop using an enclosed velcro strip.
The cushions come vacuum sealed (for the sake of the environment), and it takes about 2 or 3 hours for them to re-inflate before you can use them. CYWORX also comes with a large mousepad with a 3M adhesive backing if you want to securely attach it to the desktop.
Let’s get comfortable
The lapboard and cushions are separate pieces freely adjustable to fit all body sizes. I used it on both my couch and my bed (which is where I do most of my writing).
Before using CYWORX, my lap was my desk, which made using my laptop very uncomfortable. With CYWORX, I was able to comfortably sit back, eliminating having to hunch over, taking pressure off both my neck and upper back. And the side cushions provided support and comfort for my arms while typing. The desktop had plenty of room for my 13-inch MacBook and whatever else I needed. And even though the unit is 3 separate pieces, it is very sturdy. I was even able to use it on my recliner without the cushions.
I can honestly say it is the most comfortable I have ever been typing up a review.

OK, this product makes a lot of sense to me. Could you tell me what you thought of “disassembly” of the desk when you needed to get up from the couch? Was it very annoying to find a place to store the setup?

Hello Pam,
Getting up from the couch is easy. All you have to do is pick up the lap board and set it off to the side or back down onto the cushions. It’s a little trickier if your using it in your bed, but still very manageable. As far as storage is concerned I store the lap board between my bed and the wall, and the cushions either on my bed or on a recliner I have in my bedroom. The pieces are all lightweight so storing them isn’t to difficult, you just have to find the space.
