Razer’s new flagship PS5 controller is built out of magnesium, and it still weighs just 260 grams. The Raiju V3 Pro Signature Edition wraps the V3 Pro’s tournament kit in an open-air magnesium alloy exoskeleton, then caps production at 1,337 individually serialized units, sold only through Razer’s own store and a short list of RazerStore locations.

The weight deserves a second look. Sony’s DualSense is plastic and weighs 280 grams. This one is metal, it’s full of openings you can see the circuit boards through, and it still comes in 20 grams lighter than the pad it would replace in your hands.

Magnesium outside, open air inside

Instead of a solid shell, the Signature Edition runs a polygonal frame with the middle cut away. The boards sit visible under a protective nano coating, the edges are precision-chamfered, and the laser-etched glass touchpad up top carries a semi-transparent tint over the same geometric pattern. It reads more like a display piece than a controller, though every opening is doing structural work.

Metal usually adds grams, so Razer took them back out through the cutouts. Its own lineup gives the cleaner comparison: the standard Raiju V3 Pro, in plastic, weighs 258 grams on Razer’s spec sheet. The magnesium one lands two grams heavier than that and twenty lighter than a DualSense, which is a strange place for a metal controller to end up, and exactly the point of building it this way.

The tournament kit carries over

Under the frame it’s the V3 Pro’s working gear. Symmetrical TMR thumbsticks handle aiming, and TMR sensors don’t drift the way potentiometer sticks do, so the dead zones you set stay set. The caps swap in seconds: short convex sticks ride in the controller, tall concave ones sit in the box for players who want the extra leverage on the right stick.

Six extra buttons map however you like. Two claw-grip bumpers sit up top for fingers that never leave the sticks, and four mouse-click back buttons ride underneath, removable when you don’t want them, with blanking covers included. The face buttons are double-shot PBT in tone-on-tone black, the grips are micro-textured TPU, and nothing about the control layout asks you to relearn the standard model.

The symmetrical stick layout keeps the PlayStation arrangement instead of the offset layout most PC pads use, and that suits the double life this controller leads: licensed PS5 pad first, high-polling PC controller second. Whichever machine you’re playing on, the shape under your thumbs stays the one PlayStation players already know.

Polling, profiles and two platforms

On PC the controller polls at up to 2,000 Hz over Razer’s HyperSpeed wireless through the included dongle, which is four times the rate most wireless pads report at. It’s officially licensed for PlayStation 5, and Razer rates it for Windows 11 PCs, so one controller covers both machines on a desk.

Tuning runs through the Razer PS Controller App on your phone or Synapse 4 on PC. Stick dead zones, trigger actuation points and button maps all adjust in software, and the controller holds four profiles at once, so a shooter setup and a fighting-game setup ride along without a laptop nearby to swap them.

A serialized run in a leather box

Each of the 1,337 units carries its own serial number, and the number itself is the old leetspeak gag, chosen on purpose. Razer ships the controller in a vegan leather Signature box with a premium leatherette carrying case, an anodized aluminum torque driver, a USB-A to USB-C cable, the spare stick caps and the back button covers. The Raiju line started in 2016, so this is the tenth-year version of a controller family Razer has been refining for a decade.

The standard Raiju V3 Pro is $214.99 today

If the serialized run isn’t your thing, the regular Raiju V3 Pro Black sells on Amazon right now for $214.99, in stock and shipping. You get the same TMR sticks, the same six remappable buttons and the same 2,000 Hz polling ceiling in a plastic shell that weighs 258 grams. What you give up is the magnesium frame, the glass touchpad and the number stamped into a 1,337-unit run.

So the choice splits cleanly. Players who want the kit buy the standard model today and save whatever Razer ends up asking for the Signature. Collectors and the Raiju faithful buy the metal one for the frame, the serial number and the fact that 1,337 is all there will ever be. Two grams heavier than plastic, twenty lighter than Sony’s pad, and gone once the run sells through.
