Do you know the three R’s of recycling? Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Do you do all of them? We recycle as much as possible at my house, which is why my garage always looks like a scene from the show Hoarders with all the cardboard boxes stacked up. We’re also trying to reduce the amount of stuff that we have by clearing clutter and donating things that we don’t use to Goodwill and to friends. Reusing is one of the three R’s that we need to improve. Reusing and re-purposing (maybe there needs to be four R’s!) items instead of buying new ones not only saves you money, but it helps the environment. One way to reuse is to re-purpose unused Mason jars with reCAPs. reCAPs are specially designed / sized screw on lids for regular and wide mouthed Mason jars that turn the jars into new storage containers. There are lids that turn a Mason jar into a bottle with a squirt pump, spray bottle, piggy bank, storage container, and water bottle. The replacement lids are available in several colors and are priced at $7.99 each ($3 for the piggy bank lid). Visit masonjars.com for more info and you can buy them from Amazon.
