If you’re looking to buy a Nook HD+ tablet from Barnes & Noble, now is the time to do it. Until 3/31/13, you’ll receive a free Nook Simple Touch eBook reader with the purchase of a Nook HD+. The Simple Touch is normally $79. This offer is valid for both the 16GB Nook HD + ($269) or the 32GB Nook HD+ ($299). If you don’t need it for yourself, the free Simple Touch would make gift. See the above links for more details about the special offer and to find the tech specs for both Nook models.

I don’t know if any of you have played with the HD+, but I picked one up before Christmas with the intention of rooting it. Since I rooted it, it’s actually a really nice and cheap tablet. Since I already have one, and don’t need the Simple Touch the deal doesn’t do much for me. I just thought I’d share my experience in case anybody is on the fence thinking about getting one.
If you get the HD+ and don’t root it, you’re stuck in B&N app land and that part is crap. They charge for apps that are free on the Google Play store, and there is not much selection.
