If the popularity of Julie’s journalling posts is an indication, there are a lot of people interested in keeping journals. The Paper by FiftyThree app is definitely something you need to look at if you’re interested in journalling on your iPad. This app lets you combine drawings and handwritten text in Moleskine-like “notebooks”. You can even personalize the notebook covers with the supplied images or your own images. The app itself is free, and it comes with a drawing tool. Color, sketch, outline, and text tools are available as in-app purchases for $1.99 each or $7.99 for the set. I have it, and it’s a lot of fun. The water color effect of the coloring tool makes even my feeble attempts at drawing look better!

between this Paper app, and Tapose… i think i am finally ready to get an iPad 🙂
This app is really awesome! I have never seen such a beautiful and yet simple app. This comes very close to drawing on paper and is perfect to unleashed your creativity!
I have been trying to resist an iPad for a while and it looks as if you are getting to me through my favorite pastime. Writing has always been my weakness (or strength) and this looks like a lot of fun.
This is a really good app, though a bit pricey for $8.00 which only gets you a few colors. There is no width control for pens.
