barbie video girlThe Barbie Video Girl camera from Mattel gives Barbie a new job.  She’s a film-maker – literally.  The doll appears to be a standard Barbie, but it has a lens hidden in her necklace, and there’s a small color LCD screen and controls on her back.  There’s no technical details listed for the camera, but I’m betting it won’t film in HD.  The video camera is compatible with Windows and Mac.  There’s free video editing software that lets you add music, graphics, and special effects that works with Windows only.  Order Barbie Video Girl for only $49.99.

  2. Oh great Janet!!
Now instead of Big Brother watching us, it’s just “Bug Barbie” 🙂

I hope the grandkids haven’t been using this to spy on the neighbors already!!

    1. @Janet, thanks for making me spew chocolate soy milk out my nose when I read your “some barbies watching me” comment 😉 wow, you should be a comedian!

  3. Hm. That IS one of the more novel “nanny cams” I’ve seen. Perfect!

I think i-SoBot has been asking for company lately.

  4. @ Janet . . the Chocolate Soy milk “eruption” would be a “Barbie moment” rather than a Kodak one, right??

@Don Holt DEFINATELY a Barbie moment! Too bad it doesn’t seem to have a feature that a little Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle camera my nephew had years ago. The camera had a clear film inside with a line drawing of one of the Turtles, so a TMNT was superimposed on every picture you took. Can’t you just imagine Julie and Barbie “sharing” some soy milk…

@Andy Chen Are you implying that Barbie is willing to provide companionship for just any robot out there? Barbie cannot be bought! Oh, wait a minute….

  7. This is the first Barbie I know that’s gagdet-worthy for i-Sobot’s plastic embrace!

Now if this Barbie could be equipped with a motion or sound-activated sensor, this would be seriously cool.

  8. Janet Cloninger

@Andy Chen If it did have a motion or sound-activated sensor, it would work much better as a nanny cam, as Lisa suggested earlier.

  9. Am I the only one that sees this as being a stupid toy for little girls??? next thing i see is a lawsuit for the video’s that get posted of naked little girls running around…. I have a 7 year old girl, I would not let her have one of these.. or a camera that could record with out someones knowledge..

    maybe it’s me…
