English tradesmen in the 1880’s invented the original multi-tool called the Harp Tool. Bricklayers, long shore men and the like carried Harp Tools, named for their shape resembling the musical instrument. Inside the harp would be implements specific to the trade or craft. The Spyderco Byrd 8-Tool Harp includes: a Phillips-head screwdriver, slotted-head screwdriver, saw, corkscrew, file, punch/awl, gimlet and a two headed hammer. Each tool rotates out, snapping open ready for work and then folds back into the frame when finished. It looks kinda cool, but I am not sure how comfortable it would be to actually use it.
