Careful With that Axe, Eugene!*

I’ve seen a couple of TV shows about luthiers, and building guitars seems like a very interesting activity with a beautiful and useful end product.  Of course, it takes skill to make the wooden enclosure for any guitar, and the electronics for an electric guitar only adds to the complexity of the project.  This Mini Electric Guitar Kit from ThinkGeek isn’t going to turn you into a luthier, but you’ll assemble the pieces into the open-frame of the guitar.  It has its own speaker, or you can cable it up to your pedals and amp.  It comes complete with strings and a pick, so you’ll be ready to play in no time.  The kit is available from ThinkGeek for $69.99.

It might make a great gift for a kid this holiday season – especially for the child of the sibling you’re still competing with.  (* “Careful With That Axe, Eugene” by Pink Floyd.)

Hi Bob! I still smile when I remember the look on my sister’s face when she saw I had given her son a toy electronic drum kit for Christmas one year. :D

Unfortunately, Bob, all her kids are grown now. Too bad, because three of those things going at once would have driven her crazy! :D
