I haven't posted a Gear Diary entry for the last couple of days, because I was too busy practicing at being a Plant Tycoon, I was all caught up in growing virtual plants, cross pollinating, mutating, collecting seeds, and making money! I had over 150 hours invested in this real time game, had almost $50K in the “bank”, had found two of the four magic plants that are the object of the game, and was starting to wonder why the developer hadn't added even more things in the virtual store for me to spend my money on, when tragedy struck! I did the Tapwave update on my Zod (which erases everything), and even after carefully backing everything up beforehand, for some reason I wasn't able to reload the game from the saved point! I was back at the beginning with a handful of seeds and $100. A tiny tragedy, for sure, but it bummed me out. Anyway, I have started up again…at least this time I know what I am in for… ;0)

If you are looking for one of the most graphically stunning and highly entertaining racetrack games ever, then you should check out the screen shots at Handy Entertainment for their high resolution PalmOS game Dreamway. Bar none, this is one of the best racetrack games I have ever played – and this is high praise considering that I had to do much of the game with my stylus instead of the buttons on my Tapwave! If you have a Tungsten, the game is optimized for your joy-pad. The different controls can be assigned to any of your PDAs buttons – so there is no reason to think it won't work on the carious CLIEs and other high-res Palms. Full Tapwave support is coming in mid-December, and I can't wait to be able to zip along the track using my joy-stick. Hopefully they will add some rumble effects – I just love those!
