Well, it looks like Sirius Satellite Radio just became a major contender.
In a $500 million deal, they signed Howard Stern to a five year contract beginning January 2006. Whether you listen to him or not, this defection by Howard Stern from mainstream radio to satellite is big news. Add to that the fact that Sirius also broadcasts all of the NFL games, Major League Baseball, College sports, the NHL…as well as their other regular music, TV news, Weather Channel and other talk show programming.
Mark my words, FM radio may eventually turn into a ghost town as more and more people tune into subscription based satellite radio.
