REVIEW – In the biker world there is a phrase; “As long as you’re on two wheels, that’s all that matters”. Or sometimes you might hear “two wheels on the ground”. It’s a sign of respect amongst bikers. It means it doesn’t matter what kind of motorcycle you ride, you have my respect for being on two wheels. And while I am absolutely sure you will never hear that from a biker to someone on a Circooter Landturbo Pro Scooter, the sentiment stands. Because this thing is just 100% absolute fun on two wheels! Put someone in a leather vest and biker boots on this, and I guarantee they are going to be zipping down the road with a smile on their face. It’s impossible not to.

What is it?

The Circooter Landturbo Pro is an electric scooter with 4 different riding modes, and all the bells and whistles you might need to bop around town for the day. It’s got the convenience of lightweight (relatively speaking) transportation, and just plain fun no matter who you are.

Design and features

The first thing I did was download the associated app, because of course there’s an app…. The nice thing is that you don’t have to create an account if you don’t want to, but that will lock you out of some of the features of the app. I would venture to say you don’t really need to download that app at all if you don’t care to. The scooter is completely operational without it. There was very little I could find that you can do in the app that you could not do on the scooter itself outside of locking the scooter I think. There is also a shopping tab so you can spend more money, as well as a customer tab to chat with someone if you need assistance. Although I’m skeptical on whether you are taking to a real person or not.

Charging is as easy as plugging it into the wall and waiting for it to charge. There is a light on the transformer brick that is red while charging and turns green once it’s completely charged. It also has an overcharge protection feature so you don’t have to worry about overcharging. Just keep in mind that the transformer gets relatively hot. Not too hot to touch, but it’s still worth noting. I try to make sure the brick is on hardwood or something while charging. Not that I think it would get so hot as to catch a rug on fire, but I don’t really want to test it. It took about 4 hours to charge it up the first time. I didn’t try to turn it on before plugging it in for the first time, so I’m not sure what the charge was like out of the box, but you are going to want to charge it to full anyway. Honestly, I didn’t want to see it at say 80% and be tempted to ride it right away. You also cannot turn it on while it’s charging.

The scooter has 4 modes, walking, eco, race, and sport. Walking mode will go up to 12 mph max. Eco mode will go up to 18 mph max. Race mode will go up to 25 mph max. And sport mode will go up to 32 mph max. I kept it in race mode most of the time, but did bump it to sport once or twice. And let me tell you, that is kind of too fast to be on tiny wheels like that.

There is a nice cruise control feature as well. If you hold the throttle at any speed for about 4 seconds (I think anyway) it will beep and set the cruise. It is kind of hard to hold a continuous speed with the thumb throttle, so it’s easier to just max out the speed in any of the modes, and it will engage the cruise. To disengage cruise, all you have to do is tap on the throttle again, or use the brake, and it will start to slow down.

When it comes to stopping you have some very effective disk brakes in both the front and the rear. So effective in fact that you have to be careful not to pull on them to hard or suddenly or you are going to stop a lot faster then you would like to.

The headlight is very bright. The first time I rode the thing was at night after the kids went to bed on the first day I got it. What can I say; I’m a child and I couldn’t wait till the next day! I had absolutely no problem seeing anything in front of me, and for quite a distance as well.

The screen is great, and gives you all the information you might need to know. Speed. Battery. Riding mode. Turn signals. If your headlight is on. If you have your phone connected. It even has a trip, and an ODO. The only downside here is that the screen could be brighter in direct sunlight. It’s not unreadable by any means, but it does get washed out in the sun.

There is an electronic horn which is pretty loud. However, it also comes with a little old school bicycle bell that makes me feel about 4 years old. I don’t know why they felt the need to include this but they did. Needless to say, I use the bell all the time. Ha!

The full suspension is nothing short of amazing as far as I’m concerned. I didn’t take it off-road, or anything that drastic, but we live on an aging street that has its fair share of bumps, lumps, and potholes. I made it a point to go over most of them. You feel them, sure, but not near as much as I was expecting to.

They sent a hard shell carry bag that straps to the stem and the handlebars. A very nice little touch. I keep the charger in it but if you knew you were not going far you could put anything you might need in it. From your phone, wallet, keys, and even some snacks.

I’m not sure this is something that will bother many, but it beeps a lot. It’s there to let you know something has been changed, but it just seems excessive. It beeps twice when you turn it on. It beeps when you change modes. It even beeps when you turn the headlight on or off. I could not seem to find a way to disable all the beeping. It could be one of the things locked behind setting up an account in the app. And at the time of writing this, I have not decided if I’m going to do that. It’s just relentless these days. An account for everything. I think my toothbrush even wants me to create an account. I’m not sure I need to divulge my email address to prevent cavities. But, I digress.

A tiny feature, but one I really like is that there is a small latch on the handlebars that hooks on the base of the scooter when it’s folded so it all stays in place. Very nice detail.

The estimated 35 mile range they state is only going to be in the “walking mode” that goes up to 12 miles an hour. When putting it in any other mode the range/battery indicator on the screen drops significantly. But it is nice that it adjusts to let you know you are not getting as much range before having to charge up again.

One thing that is not unique to this scooter, but applies to most scooters in this category, is that because of the small radius of the tires, you can’t really ride it with one hand steering. Even the smallest of twitches will cause a wobble that feels terrifying.

Assembly, Installation, Setup

Assembly is so minimal that it’s almost not worth mentioning. The scooter comes almost completely assembled. You just have to unfold it, and put in one bolt to hold the stem in the upright position. Step 2 is taking out 4 bolts in the bracket that holds the handlebars, placing the bars in the bracket, and replacing the bolts. And done!

You can also adjust the stem given the height of the hider. At the lowest point, it’s perfect for me, but any higher would be too much. On the other hand, I could see the handlebars being too low for someone 6 feet tall or higher. So, very nice to be able to adjust as needed.

Final thoughts

TLDR; I love this thing. There are small idiosyncrasies, but nothing that is going to take away from the fact that the Circooter Landturbo Pro Scooter is just so much fun. It goes plenty fast enough if you have the desire to speed it up. The suspension means that you are not going to walk away hunched over because your back got destroyed going over even the smallest bumps. And did I mention it’s a ton of fun? I think that is the main takeaway here. If you are looking for an electric scooter to get you around town, or just to cruise around town for no real reason, you can’t go wrong with the Landturbo Pro.

  2. Great review Chris. I use a ‘ding-ding’ bell on my e-bike and mountain bike, to warn walkers and slow bikers. It seems more mannerly and less jarring than anything louder.

    1. Exactly! I use the bell for most things. What I do think the obnoxious horn is good for is when you are going around a blind corner and want to make sure any oncoming cars know you are there.
