REVIEW – When it comes to portable chargers, you have two main options; wired or wireless. Wired has been my go-to for portable charging as I can charge multiple items on one battery pack. The Mophie Powerstation 10k Power Bank intrigued me quite a bit, as it had the versatility I enjoy, coupled with fast charging, something I had yet to pick up, for a quick power up.

What is it?
The Mophie Powerstation is the mid-sized power bank offered by Mophie. It has a 10,000 mAh battery and two USB-C ports for fast charging.
What’s included?
- Mophie Powerstation
- 60W USB-C to USB-C cable
Design and features
While large capacity power stations are nice, I prefer something I can either throw in my crossbody purse or in a pocket. The Mophie Powerstation was just at the upper end of that size, at 3.4″ L x 1.77″ W x .98″ H, but still was easily slipped into a pocket. The included power cable may be short, but honestly I was glad for it, as I didn’t have to figure out how to manage a length of cord I didn’t need.
All of the important bits are located on one side, which is also convenient. The battery indicator has 4 lights that show how much battery life is left, plus the button location is easy to access. The two USB-C ports are so much easier to use than the USB-A ports of old. Separately, they charge at 30W, though if you use both at the same time, they’ll charge at 24W.
With the Mophie Powerstation ‘up to 50% in 30 minutes’ charge rate, the whole house was curious if fast charging their phone on the go was a possibility. After draining the little bit of battery life remaining, I charged the power bank up in about 2 hours using a 20W charging brick, and immediately my sister was begging to use it as her phone was below 20%. She took it and in 30 minutes, managed to get about 35% charged with heavy use.
Since use was a factor, I had to truly delve deep into testing. The first thing I noticed was that depending on how drained the phone was, the faster the Mophie Powerstation 10K Power Bank (Gen3) seemed to charge. I started doing some testing using my iPhone 15 Pro Max and got the following results.
- 40% charge in 30 minutes, starting with the battery at 40% (Some use at the beginning of charging)
- 40% charge in 30 minutes, starting with the battery at 35% (No use during charging)
- 43% charge in 30 minutes, starting with the battery at 27% (No use during charging)
- 32% charge in 30 minutes, starting with the battery at 50% (No use during charging)
After those four trials, I confirmed that potential pattern; the higher the starting charge, the slower it charged. This meant the final test had to be with the phone at 0%. The final result?
- Â 60% charge in 30 minutes, starting with the battery at 0% (No use during charging)
With that up to 50% in mind, I was extremely happy to see it far exceed the advertised rate, even if it was at the worst case scenario.
Now the last thing that I had to truly test was how much juice is truly in the Mophie Powerstation. I had two ways of doing this. Using the above numbers, I was able to do the first four tests on a single charge, with about 15% remaining when I plugged it in the final time.
When I add the numbers up, it runs roughly about 7500 mAh charged before the power pack ran out of juice. My final test was on my 11″ iPad Pro that I picked up this year, with a battery size of roughly 8300 mAh. In a little over an hour, it charged the iPad up from 0-75% before it ran out of juice. That translates to about 6225 mAh charged. That is definitely on the lower end of the usual ‘usable’ capacity (as we all know it never is the full capacity) compared to charging the phone on and off multiple times.
During the entire time using the Mophie Powerstation, not once did it even start to warm up. Knowing that I didn’t risk melting anything, I was fully comfortable with it charging a device anywhere.
Final thoughts
Overall, I was quite impressed with the Mophie Powerstation 10K, as it went beyond the ‘Up to 50% in 30 minutes’ advertised on my iPhone 15 Pro Max. I could toss it in my purse while charging and have a boost of power by the time I left the store. Overall, for the price point and speed of charging, I would absolutely recommend the Mophie Powerstation to someone looking for a wired portable charger.

A short cord is nice since the power bank won’t be far from your phone. Last Oct I was walking around Tokyo with a power bank connected to my phone. I used the standard Apple cord so had 3 ft of cord dangling while I was walking. I had to unplug when I got into the subway to prevent snagging onto other people’s stuff.
