NEWS – Did you have an Etch A Sketch when you were a kid? I did and I loved that thing. It uses special powder stuck to glass and you use two knobs to move a stylus under the glass to etch pictures. The SoundScribe reminds me of the Etch A Sketch because it features a square frame with a Chladni plate made of carbon fiber and special powder (silica-free sand) to create images. But of using knobs to manually create designs in the sand, the SoundScribe uses… you guessed it… sound. An app on your phone or tablet is used to special tones that vibrate the Chladni plate to create interesting shapes/art. Want one? It’s $235 from cymaticslab.com
