REVIEW – One of my addictions happens to be soda. I know it’s not the best, but I justify it by saying it’s not the worst either. The OmniFizz can ease my conscience about my guilty pleasures. I can carbonate whatever I want, get the satisfaction of feeling like I’m drinking a soda, without all of the guilt. Plus I’m saving money and calories!

Design and features
My husband and I have enjoyed drinking carbonation for as long as we’ve known each other. It hasn’t been until recently with prices that have gotten a little crazy that we have tried looking into new options. There are so many great flavors out there, but the magic of carbonation is missing from many of them. I was so excited to be able to review this OmniFizz. We have a soda maker, which has been amazing, but also introduces a whole new level of difficulty. With the OmniFizz you don’t have to add the flavor after the carbonation. You can carbonate anything you want. The soda maker would only carbonate water and when you added the flavor it would have an explosive reaction. We would race to see who could put the lid on faster and make the least amount of mess. While this game kept us entertained, I’m extremely happy that the OmniFizz has allowed us to make sodas without struggling to keep the liquids contained.
The machine itself is very simple. With a sleek and elegant design, it takes up very little of the precious countertop reality. It comes with the CO2 canister to carbonate your beverages, a special lid to use when you add the carbonation, and another lid for the included bottle after it has been infused with the bubbles, and an instruction manual.

Using the machine is very simple. Fill up the bottle. There are markings on the outside of the bottle to let you know the volume of liquid, if you are adding something to the liquid, do it before you carbonate. Then put on the special lid that will assist in the carbonation of your beverage. Once the carbonating lid is attached, it slides onto a notch section of the machine, and is ready for adding the CO2. There’s a big silver button on top that you press to add carbonation. Press and hold for more carbonation, short, small bursts for things that are already carbonated or will fizz more, but really the amount of carbonation that you wanna add is completely up to you. My husband like things extra fizzy, while my daughter loves them almost flat. But with this machine, each person can add whatever amount of carbonation to whatever beverage they desire. Win. win. win.
Once the carbonation is added, there is a small silver lid on the carbonating lid that helps to slow release the fizz. Think of opening up a two litter soda. You typically do it slow so you don’t cause all the bubbles to rush out at once causing sticky messes. Same for this. Slow release the fizz. The first time I tried the OmniFizz I thought it was like the soda stream and just opened the lid without thinking. Luckily it was only a small test batch and didn’t explode too much. Ha!

My family doesn’t drink milk very much, so we usually have plenty of different juice flavors in our household at any given moment. There were definitely some flavors that did not improve with carbonation, and some that were quite enjoyable. I have so many different flavor packets that have added nutrients, or caffeine, or zero calories, zero sugar, all the different types. I have used this machine every day, with a different flavor each time. Another awesome feature about the OmniFizz is that you can re-carbonate those beverages that have gone flat. After taking the kids out to eat for a treat, and having an extra soda that I didn’t want to waste, but also couldn’t finish, I stored it in the given bottle and was able to add more carbonation before I drank it. It felt like I had just received a fresh new soda. Amazing!
I have yet to discover anything that I don’t like about this set up. I’m curious to know how long the CO2 canister will last, and how fast/often replacements will be needed.
Final thoughts

For anyone that loves the fizz, this is for you. The possibilities are endless! It hardly takes up any space on my counter, and only seconds to make a new drink. When every penny counts in this economy, I’m super happy to be saving more money by fizzing up my own flavors, and using ingredients I approve of.

What needs to be improved?
- I can honestly say, I have not found anything that I would change at this time.

This is definitely an incredible machine. The ability to fizz any beverage is great. Only challenge is that we seem to get overzealous with the fizz and end up making a real mess. As such, this is a great companion to SodaScream, which is not as flexible, but far less messy than the DrinkMate. FAR less. I recommend both machines.
I’m not sure if you meant SodaStream, I haven’t heard of sodascream… 🙂 But we do also love our SodaStream. I haven’t had any messy problems with my OmniFizz, but I will be sure to watch out for that.
