REVIEW – My wife made me do a ‘Pick me! Pick me!’ when these Bentgo food containers came up for review. She knows the brand well. The Bentgo Signature Glass Food Storage Set would not fail my tests. This is not like the cheap containers you get with sliced lunch meat. This set is made for the duration. If you don’t drop the glass on a hard tile floor, you’ll be able to use this set for a very long time. Read ahead to see how it scored.

Design and features
The Bentgo Signature Glass Food Storage Set review is made of borosilicate glass which Bentgo says is tougher than traditional glass.
I didn’t try to break a container on purpose and we didn’t drop any by accident. The Bentgo glass is thicker than our other brand of heat-proof glass containers.
The silicone seals on the tops seem perfectly designed. I proved that the containers are fully air-tight and moisture-tight.
Information in the package indicates that the silicone lined container tops are not intended for use at baking temperatures. Some silicone is bake-safe, but the Bentgo tops should not go in an oven.
The seals are so good that it helps a lot to open the steam valve seal before taking the top off of a container. Otherwise there is resistance from air pressure inside the container.
Performance
To test the air-tightness of the containers we cooked up some broccolini. What could be more ‘fragrant’ in a refrigerator than yesterday’s broccoli? Broccolini is just the skinny sister of broccoli. They bear the same next day aroma to this nose.
After several days in our fridge (hey, we made a lot and it took a few days to consume it all) there was never a trace of broccoli smell when we opened the fridge door. There have been many times when lesser food containers have allowed the negative broccoli aroma to invade the fridge. There was no hint of that sulfurous aroma.
Speaking of sulfurous… I boiled some eggs and when they cooled I refrigerated them in a Bentgo container. Over 5 days until we depleted all the eggs, there was never any hint of boiled egg smell in the fridge.
If something is air-tight it must also be water-tight, right? To test the silicone seals I filled a container ¾ full of water and set it top-side-down on a paper towel. I left the container for 30 minutes.
After half an hour I checked the paper towel and there was no moisture from the container. It retained every drop of the contents. There was no leakage from the edges or the vent hole. Water-tightness confirmed.
Final thoughts
The Bentgo Signature Glass Food Storage Set is so good that my wife is already planning to give sets to our daughters. That’s our stamp of approval.
