BRUNT 1

REVIEW – The Brunt Polo Shirt is a lightweight short sleeve shirt made of a breathable synthetic material that was comfortable through long days of varied activities. It has no gator and no swoosh but so what? It’s just a great shirt. I wore it to restaurants, tutoring, meetings, shopping and errands. It looks good tucked or untucked.

Design and features

The Brunt Ventilated Tech Polo shirt has side and upper back mesh panels that allow for extra ventilation. The material itself is lightweight, breathable and comfortable to wear. There is a glasses loop at the bottom of the buttons.

BRUNT 6

The button spacing on this shirt is just right. I have some golf shirts with weird button placement. With one too many buttoned, I look like a nerd, and one too few and the shirt is too wide open. Brunt got the button spacing right.

BRUNT 4

Performance

All my photos were taken wearing the shirt right out of the shipping bag.

We review so many true gadgets at The Gadgeteer that my wife asked, “What will you say? ‘It’s a shirt’?” So, that it is. But shirts are not created equal. The Brunt Polo was comfortable regardless of the activities I did in it. Very importantly, it held up nicely through 3 washings during my month-long review time and I anticipate absolutely no fading from this material.

BRUNT 3

Several friends wanted to know ‘who Brunt is’, so the shirt logo paid off. One friend knew Brunt, its company history, and owns a pair of Brunt work boots. The Brunt name is getting around.

It may be a personal thing but I think the shirt will look better with a very light pressing with a steam iron on low heat after laundering, or a quick session with a clothes steamer if you use one. And I think it presents better when wearing an undershirt. Sometimes I used a white v-neck and sometimes a black or navy round collar t-shirt.

Any hyper-aware, logo-scanning fashionistas might look down their noses not seeing an alligator or a swoosh on your chest, but this $50 polo shirt will stand up better to wear and washings than some of the pricier shirts in the clubhouse pro shops.

I have some synthetic t-shirts that seem almost like rubber insulation and are less than comfortable in summer heat. I was able to wear the Brunt Polo in some odd for our Springtime, humid, 90 degree temps. The Brunt Polo did not add to my discomfort in that weather.

The Brunt Polo material is ‘easy care’ for sure, as it will probably look fine for most guys if hung to dry for a couple of hours right out of the washer. The label says it’s OK to dry it in a dryer on low heat. I air dry most of my synthetic shirts, or give them 10 minutes in a dryer load, but you do you.

BRUNT 8

I think the Brunt Polo would look better untucked if it were 1-2 inches shorter, but your opinion may vary on that. The shirt would probably look better if I were 1-2 inches taller. I wore it tucked in and untucked as it is.

Final thoughts

The Brunt Ventilated Tech Polo Shirt was a comfortable, breathable shirt that seems perfectly suited to the upcoming summer heat here in the U.S. Mid-Atlantic. I think you’d find one comfortable and long lasting.

What I like about the Brunt Ventilated Tech Polo Shirt

  • Not a heat retaining synthetic
  • Comfortable material to wear for all activities
  • Sharp looking

What needs to be improved?

  • More FYI than complaint; Could need light pressing after washing
  • Might look a touch better untucked if it were 1-2” shorter
