REVIEW – Ever since I remodeled my garage and turned half of it into my workshop, I have wanted to incorporate a touchscreen mounted on one of the walls that I could use to control the smart switches, lights, and Bluetooth devices that I installed, I settled for a smartphone with a 6″ screen, and while it works, it is small and does not satisfy the techie/gadget nerd in me. Enter the SunFounder 10-inch DIY Touch Screen for Raspberry Pi.

Assembly, Installation, Setup
The SunFounder 10-inch DIY Touch Screen for Raspberry Pi is quite easy to assemble. If you are using a Pi there are standoffs and mounting holes to accommodate mounting it directly to the back of the touchscreen. I am using a mini-PC for my project, so I only needed to connect the cables for the touch module, power, video, and speakers. Here are a few pictures that I took as I assembled my project:
Performance
The SunFounder 10 Inch DIY Touch Screen for Raspberry Pi When I was first offered this SunFounder for testing and reviewing, I was not sure what I could/would use it for until I read that despite being marketed as a perfect fit for the Raspberry Pi 5, it can also be used with other computers and Operating Systems. I immediately became interested because I have been thinking about a touch screen solution for the automated tasks in my bike/e-bike/motorcycle workshop.
My current setup uses a small 6-inch smartphone, and I found it less than ideal and less appealing. This 10.1-inch touchscreen monitor is the right size and suggested that it could accommodate my concept.
Assembling it was quite easy, especially since I did not need to follow the steps for mounting a Raspberry PI but rather just needed to connect it to a mini-PC that I had already chosen out of my device pile for just this task.
Once I connected the HDMI and USB ports to my mini-PC, it booted quickly, and the touch function was immediately available.
I then installed the desktop Govee app to gain access and control to the Govee switches I already had installed and then connected the Bluetooth of my garage amp to the mini-PC. I also added a shortcut from my web browser for my favorite music station which is in South America.
Now, I walk into my garage, press the power button on my mini-PC and moments later log in and make my automated selections all via this very responsive touchscreen.
The following video is a bit of a glimpse of how things turned out:
