REVIEW – I’m currently searching for the best mini knife, and the ThruNite Titanium Alloy Small Keychain Knife is the latest one I’ve received to review. At less than $20, is it worth it? Let’s find out.
What is it?
The ThruNite Titanium Alloy Small Keychain Knife is just what the name tells you. It’s a knife that is made of a Titanium alloy that is small enough to act as your keychain.
What’s included?
- ThruNite Titanium Alloy Small Keychain Knife
- Cable ring
Design and features
The ThruNite Titanium Alloy Small Keychain Knife is available in two different finishes. There’s the standard grey titanium finish shown here and another version that has a rainbow heat-treated look. The knife comes with a black cable-style keyring inserted through a hole in the pivot point of the blade. The keyring can be removed if you don’t like it, or you can use it as a keyring for all your keys.
When closed, the ThruNite Titanium Alloy Small Keychain Knife is 2.44 inches long, and when opened, it’s 3.375 inches long.
The blade has a slot on both sides, so you can use your fingernail to lift it. When open, the knife has a nice groove for your index finger, allowing you to grip it comfortably.
The knife is small, but I found it to be easy to grip and use without feeling awkward.
While there is a satisfying click when you open and close the blade, the ThruNite Titanium Alloy Small Keychain Knife’s blade does not have a locking mechanism; it appears to have a slip joint. So there is a slight safety issue with using it if you don’t pay attention to what you’re doing. You could (and should) say that for all knives, though.
With the built-in hook, you can hang the ThruNite Titanium Alloy Small Keychain Knife from a belt loop, bag strap, or other object. It is very lightweight, so you won’t even notice it.

Final thoughts
Yes, it’s small. Yes, it’s sharp, and yes, it’s inexpensive. But is it for me? Not really. My almost exclusive use for small knives is to open boxes and break down boxes for recycling. For breaking down boxes, I want something a little more heavy duty like the ToughBuilt Reload Utility Knife which I’ve been using for almost two years. But for box opening, I want a tiny knife that is easy to open and sharp, AND the blades can be replaced when they get dull or gunked up with tape residue. The ThruNite doesn’t have that feature, so it’s not for me. However, it is a nice little knife.
