REVIEW – It’s officially Springtime! This means for us, spending much more time outside and entertaining guests. We are a popular destination since we are the house with the pool. Although based on the above photo, no one is getting in those murky waters just yet. Having a pool, we always talked about putting lights around the pool for ambiance and night swims. Enter the opportunity to test out the Ollny Outdoor String Lights.

Design and features
The Ollny ST38 outdoor string lights are made of heavy duty wires and anti-drop plastic, making them sturdy and shatterproof. They are also IP45 Standard Waterproof, which is protection assured against water splashing from any angle, so great to use in all weather and around bodies of water without concerns.
Each 50FT string contains 25 LED Edison bulbs and starts with a 6-foot span of wire with no light bulbs. Each string of lights can be connected (up to 20 sets) as needed for your space.
Compared with traditional incandescent ones, these Ollny string lights are said to not only be brighter, but also more energy saving. The 2200K color temperature creates that perfect mix of needed light, while creating a cozy atmosphere. The lights are also dimmable, but that will require being plugged into a dimmable outlet or switch. We personally don’t have a need for this options, so I didn’t test this specific feature for this review.
Assembly, Installation, Setup
The Ollny light bulbs are plastic, which makes it great when laying out the lights for installation and for us not worrying about glass bulbs shattering on our pool deck.
Each light socket includes a small clip allowing the lights to be easily strung with a guide wire. We personally installed without a guide wire, as I was going for a more droopy look and the distance wasn’t large from the fence to the house. I would recommend using a guide wire if you intend to span over longer open areas. For our purposes or installing along a house, fence, etc., I don’t believe the guide is necessary, but the small clips are there if you need them.
Performance
Each Ollny strand starts with a 6-foot span of wire with no light bulbs. This is a great design feature that allows the lights to be setup a short distance from an outlet and move up a pole, fence or tree. A pro for this reason, but a con when you are stranding multiple strings together, as the gap is noticeable depending on the location of the connection.
When spanning the lights over our pool, the extension gap hit right over our pool and is quite distracting for me. I wish there was a way to shorten/lengthen the gap depending on how you were using each strand. However, lucky for you, if order for yourself, Ollny does have longer strands, so you would not run into this problem. You can purchase the ST38 Exterior Patio Lights in 30ft, 50ft (as reviewed), 120ft (what I need for my space), and 160 ft, allowing you to choose the perfect length for your specific outdoor space.
In your box, you have 2 extra bulbs. Replacing bulb is as simple as twisting the bulb out of the lamp socket and twisting the new bulb in when needing to replace. It is recommended to keep blubs clean by using a soft cotton cloth to wipe when needed.

Final thoughts
The Ollny ST38 Warm White Outdoor Patio Lights is a wonderful option if you are looking for string lights for your outdoor spaces. My only complaint is that I wish I would have received one of the 120ft length for our space to avoid the connection gap. If Ollny doesn’t want to send me one after my rockstar review, I will definitely be purchasing it for myself.
