The Mantis Pen multitool isn’t really a pen, but 2 of its 4 functions are interesting to me

CROWDFUNDING NEWS – I’m always looking for unique multi-tools, and the Mantis Pen, which is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter, caught my eye for two of its four features.

What is it?

The Mantis Pen is an EDC “pen” made of titanium which features a modular design with two ends that can unscrew to provide different functions and an empty barrel that can be used as a storage capsule.

The pen feature is really a metal graphite tip that can be used like a pencil that never needs to be sharpened. I personally would never use this type of writing instrument except as a last resort when other traditional pens or pencils are not available. And, I guess that’s the point (pun intended).

Both ends of the Mantis Pen unscrew so that you can flip them and re-screw (is that a word?) to use the other function. The features are a graphite pen, glass breaker, knife, and storage capsule. The first two features probably would not get much use from me, but the knife could come in handy, and the storage capsule could be equally handy for holding medication as long as the knife blade doesn’t get in the way or cut into the pills…

Note that the knife uses #10,#11,#12, and #15 scalpel blades that are easily replaceable.

Where can I find more info?

The Mantis Titanium Pen campaign ends on 01/17/24, and they have already met their funding goal of $5,000. You can pre-order a Mantis Titanium Pen starting at $39.
