NEWS – I review a lot of bags. The closet in my office has to periodically be purged of extras to make room for new models that come out seemingly hourly. But I couldn’t help but follow the link I saw a while ago to eBags.com for their slim professional convertible backpack.

Why do I think this is news? Three things. First, they allow you to carry both a tablet and a laptop. Although I have two iPads, rather than one of each, my original iPad Pro is larger screen-wise than some laptops, so it counts. Second, the straps can be placed in their own pocket and totally hidden, making the conversion to briefcase fully invisible. It just looks like a briefcase when they are hidden. Third, there’s a dedicated, external cord and charger compartment. Not a narrow, tight, tiny pocket, but a full, tilt-out, zip-around-three-sides, honest-to-goodness-pocket. ‘Bout time. You can buy one for $139.00 from eBags.com

    1. I have not seen one in real life so cannot say. If they do send one for us to review, I’ll take a look into that possibility. (Also, I’ve found a disposable scalpel or #11 Xacto blade preferable to razor blades for such surgery. Much more control.)

    2. Yes, but skip the razor. They are a kind of rubber and just attached with some glue. The logo can be simply peeled off with a fingernail to get started. That might not be necessary at all on the solid black model, since it blends in well.

  2. I just bought this bag and love it. My bag only has a small “ebags” tab that would be easily removable. I saw som of the online pics actually have a bigger ebags logo printed on the fabric, but mine does not have that.

  3. This is my computer bag that I got to take everywhere for work. In my line of work, I get good-quality computer backpacks for free every year but this one is almost ideal, so it’s what I prefer.

If only the little side pocket was actually large enough to carry a water bottle.

Note too that eBags offers a lifetime warranty on their product.
