I love The Gadgeteer for years now and let me say my tablets have replaced my desktop and lap top. I take it everywhere I go, am never bored, have cellular freedom. I can take it in many places that have WiFi and it’s easy when I want to scan documents and photos and send them on the way. Yes, I try to follow your suggestions and frequently buy some. Thank you for giving away fun toys like this giveaway.
What ways do you use a tablet now or how will you use this tablet if you are the winner?
Right now I don’t have a tablet 5o myself and I would love to win the tablet so I can start using it as an art tablet and start improving my art to share with others.
I would use a tablet for web browsing.
I would use a tablet for Home Automation use. I’ve been reading your blog since about Day 1.
I also liked your FB page and signed up for your Newsletter. One reason I never signed up before is that I read your Blog almost daily
I use a Kindle Fire now for streaming Amazon or Netflix. That is about it. A better tablet, like this, would allow me to do more.
Kindle, news, and shopping.
I am a newsletter subscriber.
I’d use the tablet for streaming internet radio stations, email and general browsing. Subscribed and about to Tweet ! I quit Facebook before it was cool to quit Facebook.
I use my tablet everyday for just about everything. Whether it’s a recipe, diy projects, information, research, making travel plans, checking traffic, calorie counting, the list goes on and on… Just wish it wasn’t 4 years old!
Forgot to say, I’m ‘Crossstick’ at Twitter.
I use a tablet for reading and entertaining the grand kids. This one will be used for the same actives….
I subscribed
I also get and enjoy your newsletter….
I use my tablet for reading at night and watching media while working out in the morning
My tablet is mainly for playing games, reading my mails, doing my banking, etc.
I would really love to have this Huawei pad for an aunt who loves the Chinese opera, who is not tech savvy, so that she can enjoy the opera in full colour, superb sound, rich content without having to rely on those outdated medium of CDs etc. It would be a truly enriching and unforgettable experience for her thank you
oh and I am a newsletter subscriber
I use for ebook and video playing..
I don’t currently own a tablet. This one would be used for cave mapping with a modified Disto-X surveying tool. The Disto-X connects via bluetooth to input azimuth, angle, and distance data into a sketching app on the tablet where I can draw the cave map.
Primarily for media consumption or things like wifi scanner, etc., when a larger screen is warranted.
I really want to get back to taking handwritten notes, and need something with more “umph” then my current Nexus 7 (which sadly has developed a less-sensitive area in the center of the screen.
I don’t know what I would do without a tablet! I don’t use a laptop anymore. I us a tablet for email, media, word processing, text messaging and pretty much anything else you could imagine.
There are Apps for almost anything. My present tablet is getting a bit long in the tooth and would really be happy to get a new one!
I hope I have done everything correctly. I posted the answer to the question. Connected with Facebook, connected with Twitter, subscribed to Gadgeteer.
I use a tablet for casting instructional content in my instrumental music classroom. The iPad I use is quite long-in-the-tooth and this one (or a similarly fast one) would enable me to do EVEN MORE for my young students.
By the way, I do subscribe already…and I “Like” the Facebook page.
I would use such a tablet to replace my fire hd8 whose digitizer doesn’t work anymore. I used the fire to read kindle books, comics via comixology and to watch Netflix.
I would also install feedly so I can read my several 50 or so favourite sites and blogs. This allows me to read gadgeteer as it happens instead of later in the newsletter summary.
My last use case is to read tech books and other pdf files that aren’t from the Google store.
I did subscribe to and read the newsletter but prefer using feed reader for daily access.
i want it mainly for my daughter, she likes to play a few games and watch youtube vids…i would use it to catch up on the news…i subscribed to the news letter but i don’t have twitter
“What ways do you use a tablet now or how will you use this tablet if you are the winner?”
If I’m the winner, I’ll use this tablet as part of my smart home setup to control smart lights around the house. As well, I’d like to take it with me when traveling for general internet browsing. Furthermore, I get opportunities from time to time to use the Android operating system to test products and services (for a small fee) so this would be perfect!

I just liked the Gadgeteer Facebook page!
I use a tablet for media consumption and online shopping. I have a second user account set up for my daughter to watch kid-friendly content.
I use an old tablet mainly as what I call my “At Home” device. I find that while at home I typically prefer to use a tablet over my phone due to the larger screen. I normally read (and prefer) to read ebooks on my Kindle but I subscribe to magazines and prefer to read these on my tablet. Also, while in the house, I will use this to do most of my casual browsing on the tablet. I have a Roku TV with Hulu, Sling and Amazon Prime and use the tablet as my remote. I’m a cord cutter and have a Sling AirTV device. So I use the TV Guide app to determine what shows I want to record for the up coming week. I don’t have, nor do I want a TV in the bedroom but if I want to watch something in the bedroom, the tablet is an excellent device to use for this purpose. I use Pulse for texting and typically will use the device to continue on with text conversations. I also use the tablet to download movies and shows from Netflix and Amazon to watch when I go to the gym and connect up with my bluetooth headsets. I also mainly use the tablet while at home to keep up to date on my emails. I also use the tablet with other apps such as Facebook or playing a quick game of Word Stacks or even a Crossword Puzzle. While watching movies and TV I will very often open the IMDB app and browse through the information on the movie or TV show I am watching. I feel that I get the most out of my old tablet and would be able to put a new one to very good use.
I use a tablet for work every day. I use the Huawei phone this would compliment the tablet. Phone quality is amazing if tablet half as good we are on a definite winner
I use a tablet for mostly basic online internet use and for watching movies or shows.

I like The Gadgeteer on Facebook.
To be honest, though, I think tablets were intended to be used in portrait mode. I don’t know why android tablets above 8 inches suddenly are reoriented to landscape mode.
Was a study done where it was found that human beings prefer a certain vertical distance beyond which they are uncomfortable? I recall the discussions around tablet design where certain large US newspapers were used as an example. How Newyorkers were found to always fold the paper to the size of a 7-inch to an 8-inch tablet that they could read one-handed. I think this informed the original design of tablets.
I would love to do some hands-on study of a 10-inch tablet or have a discussion on this subject with some people who have. I think unless the orientation of the controls like camera placement and physical buttons require using the device in strictly landscape mode.
I use my tablet to read ebooks, watch Netflix and Social Media.

I read scientific articles on my tablet
I use a Pixel C tablet to watch videos on my commute. I also use it for Twitter and Instagram browsing, and light web browsing. I imagine I would use the Huawei for similar purposes.
I use my tablet mainly for Netflix and webbrowsing.
I do play a few games on my tablet that are just easier to play and more enjoyable on a larger screen. Most of the time, though, I use it to read older books that I skipped at the time they were published and are now out as ebooks that are either cheaper or free (yes I’m older than some copyrights). And it’s so much easier to read while eating when I don’t have to juggle a book in one hand at the same.

Did I mention that my current tablet has a spiderweb of cracks across part of the screen? 😉🤗
What ways do you use a tablet now or how will you use this tablet if you are the winner?
I use it for digital sheet music.
With the Micro SD card expansion I would us it to put movies and shows for my granddaughter to watch while traveling.
I currently use an older Kindle Fire Tablet to read e-books to my daughter, watch some streaming video, keep tabs on my IoT devices and reading RSS feeds. If I’m the winner I’d use the new tablet in a similar manner however I’d now have access to the Google Play Store and be able to add some games that won’t run on the Fire.

I would use this for my doorbell camera. Trying to monitor the alerts on a small phone screen is a chore, so a bigger tablet screen would make it much more comfortable.

I’d use the Huawei Mediapad M5 Lite when I travel around town by bus or HC van. It would be much lighter to schlep around than my current laptop.

The primary reason I use a tablet is for entertainment during air travel. At home, I use it to read blogs, etc. – kind of like my magazines. A long time ago, I even used it in videos I filmed for my classes. It became the “picture in picture”.

I share a tablet with my husband and we use it for reading, games and to check e-mails and other general internet things. If I won, I’d keep the tablet for myself as my own and wouldn’t have to share anymore.
I use it during travel and to watch videos/movies without disturbing other household members.
Would really love to have one for when I travel
