Earlier today I sifted through a big pile of emails that I received in the last week pitching new crowdfunding campaigns. I can’t and don’t want to talk about every new product, so I pick three that I find interesting and worthy of a pledge. Click through to see this week’s notable Kickstarter projects.
UDOO X86
What is it?
UDOO X86 is a tiny computer like a Raspberry Pi that geeks and gadgeteers can hack into a computer that will do what they want without taking up much room.
Why do I like it?
It uses a quad core 64-bit new-generation x86 processor made by Intel®, is supposed to be 10 times more powerful than the Raspberry Pi 3 and can drive up to three 4K resolution monitors at one time. The UDOO X86 is also compatible with all Arduino™ 101-compatible shields, sensors and actuators. It’s a tinkerer’s dream.

The UDOO X86 campaign has already surpassed their funding goal of $100,000 with 13 days left in the campaign. You can pre-order a basic UDOO X86 for $89 or the advanced version for $108, with shipping estimated for November 2016. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Pal Strap
What is it?
It’s a watch strap for Pebble Time and Pebble Time Steel smartwatches that adds GPS and extra battery life.
Why do I like it?
I like add-ons and accessories that can extend the capabilities of existing products. This one gives the Pebble a high performance GPS that can run for 24 hours without needing a smartphone. It also has a battery built into the strap’s buckle that will extend the watch’s run time for 7 days.

The Pal Strap campaign is still working on achieving the $80,000 funding goal with 23 days left in the campaign. You can pre-order a pen for $79. Shipping is estimated for October 2016. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Everyday Carry (EDC) Keychain Pen from TTPocket Tools
What is it?
It’s a 3.25″ (closed) pocket / keychain pen that has been made from a solid piece of Aluminum. It has a ring on the screw cap so you can add it to your keychain.
Why do I like it?
I’m love pens and am always on the lookout for a good pocket pen. I like this one because it’s designed and made in the US and it can accept D-1 Fisher Space pen refills, so you’ll be able to write in the cold, in the hot and even upside down.
Check TTPocket Tools other pens, they are impressive.

The EDC Pocket Pen campaign has already passed their $10,000 funding goal with 3 days left in the campaign. You can pre-order a pen in either brass, aluminum or copper for $45. Shipping is estimated for October 2016. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

The Pal Strap came late since Pebble just announce their new line of Pebbles with different connection placements.
Agreed. Just saw that today.
I’m digging that EDC pen. Really digging it. The smaller the better!
Andy. You might like the Inka pen if you haven’t seen it. You can use it as a short pen or with a bit of rearranging make it a full size pen.
