The Cargo Works 13″ MacBook EDC Kit might be marketed towards MacBook owners, but this zippered bag is perfect for any 13 inch laptop. It offers a separate zippered section for the computer and multiple pockets and Molle strips inside and outside the bag so you can attach your favorite EDC items. Let’s check it out.

The 13.4 x 9.5 x 1.6 inch bag is made of water repellent 900 denier polyester canvas with military grade webbing and YKK zippers. It’s very utilitarian as far as the style and only comes in one color – black. But those last two features are not complaints, just observations.

The exterior front side of the bag has three strips of Molle webbing that each have 6 slots that can be used as attachment points for pens, pouches and other gear

When you flip the bag over, you’ll find the adjustable and removable shoulder strap along with one Molle strip that has five slots.

There’s also a grab “handle” on the back which is just a length of webbing above the Molle strip.

The bag features two zippered sections. One side is designed to hold your laptop and the other side has eight elastic bands that you can use to hold and clip various items like pens, cables, etc.

The opposite side has a long pocket that easily holds a full sized iPad, papers, file folders, etc. Three other open topped pockets are sized to hold wallets, notebooks, your smartphone, etc.

I tested the bag with a 13″ MacBook Air, 13″ MacBook Pro and a Dell XPS 13. All three fit perfectly in the padded soft microfiber pocket.

The strap works best when the bag is worn cross body messenger bag style like I show above. The Cargo Works 13″ MacBook EDC Kit is a well made bag that looks good, is comfortable to wear and offers great expansion and storage options. Combine all that with the fact that it’s affordable, allows me to easily give this bag two thumbs up.

  2. Great review! I’m considering this bag for my Dell Latitude E5470 which has the following dimensions: 13.2 x 9.1 x .09. Do you think that would fit in the laptop area? I reached out to Cargo Works, but haven’t heard back from them.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!!

    1. Base on the dimensions given, I don’t think it will fit. The Dell laptop has a more square angle compares to MacBook’s round angles. It will pop out at the corner areas.

We are working on a 15inch MacBook Pro Retina version. It will be a better fit for the Dell E5470.

  3. I no longer have the bag so I can’t check to be sure, but the width is only 13.4, so your laptop might be snug fit… Hopefully the folks at Cargo Works will respond. I’ll see if my contact there still works and point them to your question here.
