If you’ve ever had an interest in geocaching but thought it would be too expensive to buy a handheld GPS and then too hard figure out how to load cache coordinates into it, here’s a GPS device for you. The Geomate.jr from Brand 44 Colorado comes preloaded with 250,000 geocaches covering all 50 states (or your country). When you turn it on, it will display the distance and direction to the geocache closest to you and can display the 20 closest geocaches to your location. It also provides info about the cache such as difficulty, terrain and size. Other features include the ability to save waypoints, so you don’t have to worry about getting lost, and you can save your found caches so that you can review them any time. The Geomate.jr runs on 2 AAA batteries is $94.99 through Amazon, but I’ve seen them for less than $70 on other online stores like REI.
