The iPics 2 Go Scanner For iPhone 4/4S from IonAudio works with 35mm negatives, slides and both 3×5 and 4×6-inch pictures to convert them into images using your smartphone’s built in camera. It’s a specially designed fixture that holds the iPhone at an optimal distance from the media. It uses an LED light for even lighting across the slide or image and uses AA batteries so you don’t have to go searching for a wall outlet in order to use it. After your images are scanned, you can share them on Facebook or email using the share button. Or you can just save them to the iPhone’s camera roll. The iPics 2 Go Scanner is available now through BH Photo for $39.95 (affiliate link).

As someone who’s in the process of digitizing at a couple of thousand rolls of slides and negatives, I love this idea. But tying this to an iPhone is silly. Phone cameras, as good as they have become, still suck compared to regular digital cameras, and this device is useless as soon as you change your phone. I would think adding adaptors that allow you to use different compact cameras with better photo quality would be better.
There’s only 1 review on the B&H site, and it says the quality of the “scanned” slide sucks.
I agree with chriszzz. It’s a stupid idea. But for this cheap price it’s not a total loss. Could come in handy for kids to have fun with their iPhone lol
