goflex deskSeagate has upped the ante for desktop external hard drives with their new FreeAgent GoFlex Desk External Drive that is available in a 4TB capacity. That’s currently the highest capacity hard drive in the industry. The 4TB version ships with USB 3.0 connectivity, but it is possible to upgrade it to use a FireWire 800 connection with an optional adapter kit. These drives are compatible with PCs or Macs and are priced at $249.99 for the 4TB version.

It always amazes me to see such a small device have so much storage capactiy. And leave it to Seagate to do this, I love Seagate drives.

I clicked the Seagate link and it actually took me to the FreeAgent® GoFlex™ Ultra–portable Drive site instead of the FreeAgent® GoFlex™ Desk External Drive site….

  3. I usually get 2 of the exact drives. One to backup the other. If you think about it…this 4TB drive is great but if it dies then there goes 4TB!! And that’s a lot of data…or in most cases, movies and music.

Must have been the computer at work, I tried it at home and it worked fine 🙂
Might have to get me a couple of these drives….Would make a perfect storage system.
