Welsh product design company Draw has recently unveiled their finished case for the iPad, and followed it up with a painful price tag. The Draw iPad case is machined from a solid block of aluminum, given an anodized finish in black, blue, green, pink, or clear (natural aluminum color), and features a foam-padded lining and a magnetic closure system. These certainly look hot, but you’ll pay handsomely for all of that hotness: these are available only in the Draw online store, where the going price is US$200.

Crazy, these prices get more and more crazy.
Are there really people paying so much ?
Get yourself an old pair of jeans and needle and thread and make yourself something to transport your iPad
Ronald, not only are there likely a significant number of people who prefer the look of machined aluminum over worn denim, but also I’d wager that this case would protect its contents from crushing or impact better than an old pair of jeans would.
@Andy
So very true.
I was just trying to point to less expensive options. Why not patchwork a sleeve (with filling between the layers protecting to iPad). 😉
Anyhow, if people buy these expensive things, it’s good for economy. It’s pumping the money around what makes the clock work, it doesn’t matter on what you’re spending your money.
😉
Sadly, this gorgeous case’s sleek lines, styling, and hipness is greatly diminished by the company putting their logo on it in a glaring white typeface. A subtle emboss would have looked so classy, now it’s just a portable billboard. You can bet the suits came in after the designers finished and demanded everyone must be able to “easily see and read our company name!”
I just bought a Draw Case because there are no other cases on the market that can protect my $700 toy better. The case is solid aluminum. I wouldn’t want to try it but I would bet it could withstand being run over by a car. I don’t care about price as long as something will do what I need it to do.
