victorinox swisschampVictorinox makes a line of knives branded for the Boy Scouts of America, but I was surprised to find that the Swiss Army SwissChamp XAVT was not part of the BSA collection.  With it’s 80 functions, the SwissChamp XAVT is the ultimate “always be prepared” tool!  This huge knife is packed with knife blades, screwdrivers, hex drivers, altimeters, barometer, alarm clock, and everything else you can imagine.  It’s so big, it might be better considered a collector’s item instead of a pocket knife.  The list price is $435, but Amazon.com is showing it for $233.14.  Give it for Fathers Day, and your dad can truly be the man who has everything.

  2. I think this is more of an ornament then a tool, I’ve had many SAKs over the years, and the standard swisschamp is about as large as I’d want to go, and that was before eI discovered the joys of leatherman tools.

  3. It’s not that bad to use. I have carried this in my pocket for a couple years now. My pockets do however wear out much faster now.

  4. And this is why I carry only multitools now; the skinny one with a few functions on me, and the heavy one in a pack or bag with all the trimmings. If it’s too heavy to carry, too thick to use, or too expensive to damage or lose, it’s no good to you when you need to use it

No wonder it’s not in the BSA collection; what self-respecting scout would own a knife they could ‘be prepared’ with?

  5. Wow, that’s one really fat swiss army knife. Can you imagine trying to use the screwdriver on that big bad boy ? You’ll be really challenged just turning it without it falling out of your hands.

  6. I guess only a rich Boy Scout could afford to dish out $435 (or $233.14- does that include freight?) for such a monstrosity.
It would be a nice item to take along on a long ocean voyage in a sailboat!

  7. Holy crap, this thing is for real? I appreciate knives and multi tools more than most people, but this thing is absurd… I’ll keep my tiny (and cheap) Rambler.

@blore40 LOL! That IS a knife! You certainly couldn’t carry that in your pocket. Your pants would need a sidecar with wheels to carry that thing around with you! 🙂
