CampChef Woodwind Pro News 3

NEWS – If you’re looking at grill options this year, it’s hard to deny the convenience of a pellet grill.  At the same time, they have a similar rep to gas grills when it comes to delivery of flavor to what you’re cooking (compared to charcoal or offset smokers).  I’ve been on the hunt for options to augment my trusted Weber Performer kettle, and recently came across the Woodwind Pro by Camp Chef.  This is a pellet grill, but the only pellet grill I’ve found with a dedicated, OEM smoke box that allows you to add proper smoke flavor from wood or even charcoal to your cooks.

What makes this really interesting is the Sidekick system by Camp Chef.  Sold separately, this bolt on propane burner accessory has different surfaces such as a griddle.  What better way to kick off your brisket cook at 5am than by frying up some bacon and eggs alongside it?  If you’re looking for something new this grilling season, the Camp Chef is worth a look!

The Woodwind Pro series starts at $1200, and is available from Camp Chef or Amazon

  2. It would be nice if you added some info on the temperature controls and if it has a WiFi interface. I know I can look it up myself, but isn’t this a site that does that kind of review for you?

This “review” also sounds like an advertisement to get clicks or a % of $$ on a linked sale.

BTW, I have a Camp Chef pellet grill that costs about 1/2 of this new.

Hey Anthony – this is just a news post, reviews typically start with the word Review and are a bit more in depth as we have the product in hand. How do you like your Camp Chef?

      1. Sorry Greg, I didn’t know NEWS posts were just….news, I guess. I’ve had my Camp Chef for 3 years and it’s been trouble free. But mine doesn’t have the WiFi temperature controller (mine’s manual, which is OK). I hear the WiFi ones can be troublesome for all smoker brands, though.

I have cooked a lot of briskets, pork and chicken on mine with great success. Pellet grills are great and a side burner would be a nice addition, but I don’t have one (I have a second grill).

Camp Chef makes a nice product with good warranty and product support.

That’s awesome, glad to hear you’ve had a good experience with yours! I’m on the fence with WiFi, it feels more novel than necessary and to your point – a potential source of trouble. Happy grilling!
