The Gadgeteer has discussed technology for senior citizens in the past, even posing the question “What’s the perfect computer for Grandma?”  Kiwi PC may have the answer.  This computer is a standard computer with a few tweaks to make it easier to use.  The Kiwi PC for Seniors is running a customized Linux Ubuntu 10.10 OS with a “Me Menu” system that simplifies the choices.  You can customize the Me Menu to give access to selected programs, like mail, internet access, and others included with the system, and the “Software Centre” allows you to download other programs, if needed.  The screen icons and text are designed for better visual acuity.  It’s equipped with an Intel 1.66GHz Atom cpu, 2GB DDR3 memory, 250GB hard drive, and a DVD-RW drive.  It has a 19″ monitor and a keyboard with color-coded keys to make it easier to locate those pesky function keys, or whatever.  The Kiwi PC is $499.99.
