LEGO Brick Light

This giant LEGO block is made of translucent plastic and has four bright LED lights inside.  The bricks are 3″X3″X1.25″ and use 3 AAA batteries for power.  You just stick the LEGO brick on the wall of your closet or inside a cabinet for a little extra light where you need it.  The LEGO Brick Light is available in transparent red, blue, green, or yellow for $17.99 each from ThinkGeek.

Can someone explain this LEGOmania to me? All sorts of LEGO products are showing up on store shelves these days, from cameras to this closet light, and from the sound of it, they all represent a triumph of form over function. Whoever got the merchandising rights to the LEGO name is clearly drinking 4Loco, and I have to wonder where it will all end. A LEGOmobile? A LEGOhome? I’m waiting…

@Jerry The explanation is that LEGO is cool :) As for a LEGO house – there actually is (or was… not sure which) one! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1214729/James-May-size-Lego-house-wants.html

Mercy! I still haven’t recovered from the weirdness of the LEGO Star Wars video game… I guess it’s a new manifestation of the Bizarro world in Superman…

I’m actually surprised to see so many LEGO based products out on the shelves. LEGO has a division within their company that tracks misuse of the brand and likeness to its bricks/pieces. LEGO iPhone cases, storage boxes, and light fixtures are awesome, but I wonder what LEGO thinks of them.
