Nubrella – a hands free umbrella

The Nubrella is a very clever remake of the ordinary umbrella. It’s a bubble shaped cover that you can strap under your shoulders so that you can even use it hands free. As long as you don’t mind looking like Dark Helmet from the movie Space Balls, this $40 product will keep you dry and warm while walking and biking in the rain.

Saw this and for some reason the theme song to the Jetson’s popped in to my head…

“Meet George Jetson…!”

How silly are you going to look wearing that. Go on, I dare you.

@Mycroft

Maybe so, but how silly do you look while:
- wearing a bluetooth earpiece, http://www.everyjoe.com/thegadgetblog/files/2008/07/bluetooth-headset.jpg
- or driving a bike , http://www.ligfietsers.be/afbeeldingen/Mistral/challenge_mistral_002.jpg
- or even driving a car (http://blogs.indianapolismotorspeedway.com/theexperience/files/2009/05/ray-harroun-2.jpg) ?

The ‘only’ problem is that’s still quit big when folded up. Would I buy one? Probably not :-)

Saw this product on the TV program Sharks where people can make their pitch to a group of investors for money to push forward their products.

@Michael That’s where I heard about it too :)

Wrong colour. It should obviously have been yellow. “Help! I am being eaten by Pac-Man”

Kinda cool… makes me think of the “Big Daddy” from Bioshock. I like the fact that it would let you use a gadget even in the rain, but I can’t help but think that there are places where this would be less convenient than a normal umbrella… two people can’t huddle under one Nubrella, for example, and I can’t imagine how you get out from inside one of these things and into a car without getting wet in the process.
