A pen that might be mightier than a sword – Benchmade 1100

benchmade-1100The Benchmade 1100 series pen is made of anodized CNC machined Aluminum or Stainless Steel and uses ink cartridges manufactured by Fisher Pen Company. This instrument can be used as a pen or a kubotan (a self defense weapon). This particular model is available in several colors and sells for $120. Benchmade makes other pens as well as some really cool looking knives.

In my opinion the Rick Hinderer has got to be the best of the tactical pens that are out there.

If travelling, be alert that kubotan and similar weapons are specifically mentioned in the TSA prohibited items list as not allowable for carry-on. It might get through (”Hey, I just like a heavy pen”) but you wouldn’t want to have to toss your $120 pen in the trash if it doesn’t. Put it in your checked luggage before getting to security.
