Apple 3G 15gb iPod
I used one of the
original
iSkin cases with my second generation iPod. It was protective but added a
little bulk to the iPod. The new
iSkin
eXo for the third generation iPod has become sleeker and more refined as did
the iPod itself. To say the case ‘fits-like-a-glove’ is an understatement. The
case completely surrounds the iPod. To get the player into the case, you have to
slide it through the screen cut-out and then pull the top part of the case over
the iPod. Unlike other cases, there is not a large opening at either the top or
bottom, just slots for the earphones, hold button, and connector cable.
The iSkin case is made of silicone which definitely will not slip out of your
hand (a fear when the iPod is naked). The eXo comes in a large variety of colors
ranging from conservative to very BOLD; some even glow in the
dark. The iSkin includes a very nice belt clip that is removable and a high
quality screen cover made of clear plastic which fits into a groove around the
screen cut-out.
According to iSkin, you can use the docking station while the iPod is in this
case. This is possible but involves pulling the bottom of the iPod through the
dial cut-out…something I do not like to do. Definitely will add wear to that
opening. The bottom of the case has a cut-out for the sync / charge cable, which
I prefer to use.
One negative comment I have is that the cut-outs are very
deep. I grant you, the thicker the case, the greater the protection but it is
difficult to use the hold slider-button.
The iSkin would not save your iPod from a substantial drop but will protect
it from bumps, minor falls, and scratches.

I have the iSkin EXO Electra. I am normally very conservative, so I figured a glow-in-the-dark blue case would be a nice change. The case is very well made, and Lajo (the designer) is very responsive.
I’ve dropped my iPod several times since I got the case. Thank goodness for the protection!
Hi,
Just read the review, would like to add that the belt clip attatchment is completely removable, not just the clip itself, but with a screwdriver you can actually unscrew the part it attaches to. It is left recessed below the silicone and does not protrude at all. Nice, I keep my belt clip off because I don’t use it and it is great that it has this option. Very unique.
A good site to see them is http://www.theistore.com . It is definitely the best site to see all the colors selection. Also all the eXo’s at the iStore come with a bonus case to carry the accessories or I keep my iSkinned iPod in this case when I travel so that it doesn’t turn on and off and drain the batteries.
Overall this is the best iPod case.
Does the metal of the backing scratch the ipod in any way? Or does the silicone cover it?
(My iSkin shipped out a few days ago, it should be in my mailbox this afternoon!)
No it cannot scratch the iPod at all, it is recessed in the silicone. It is implanted in the silicone.
I know this may sound a bit loopy but wont inserting and removing the ipod from the skin itself be a reason for the beautiful back to be scratched ?? otherwise i think its a great idea.
I remember reading somewhere on this site about a product that removes scratches from the surface of an iPod. I don’t think that it had it’s own review, I think you mentioned it while reviewing one of the cases.
Can you tell me where I can find info on this product?
