REVIEW – Apparently, SwitchBot doesn’t rest much. I reviewed their tiny, but powerful SwitchBot K10+ Vacuum about a year ago. They followed it up with a combo system that combined the capable K10 and a stick vacuum a few months later (read it here). I loved both and still use them. Frankly, I was somewhat surprised when they announced the new K11+. Will it perform as well as its older siblings? Please join me for a deeper look!

Design and features
An Amazon search for “Robot Vacuum” yields more than 10,000 results, making it increasingly challenging to choose. I’ve had the privilege of using and testing quite a few. While many have their merits, I have a soft spot for SwitchBot, and including the new K11+, as I write this review, there are currently six lurking around the house. No, I don’t need all of them, but it’s been fun to play with and share them! Thank you, Julie, The-Gadgeteer’s head honcho, for giving me the privilege!
It arrives in a big box.
I appreciate the inclusion of an extra bag, filter, and side brushes! Yay!
The dust bin is removable for easy cleaning. Once a month does the trick for me.
The side cleaning brush received an update to a non-symmetrical two-arm design.
The K11+ size is identical to the K10. I remember thinking that at this size, it probably wouldn’t perform well, but I was horribly wrong. The K11+ kicks the suction to, 6500Pa (up from 2500), and isn’t messing around. Both are the smallest vacuums I’ve tested and performed as well as or better than many larger ones.
The dust bin and power switch are under the cover.
At the bottom, you’ll find the anti-tangle brush. I’ve found that even with lots of rogue threads (my wife is a skilled seamstress), hair, and kitty fur, the brush only needs cleaning about once a month.
The knobby tires had no trouble navigating hard floors, rugs, and door thresholds.
The auto-empty station now has a snazzy wood-tone cover. I love the new look!
SwitchBot made the station considerably smaller than previous versions, a welcome change, and ideally suits the K11+ for small apartments or closed rooms. However, being small doesn’t limit its capabilities, and it handles whole houses. Bravo, SwitchBot!
There’s ample space inside to accommodate a full dust bag.
The bottom of the docking station features a slot for routing the power cable to the left or right.
If your situation has vinyl or hardwood floors, there’s a “Swiffer” type mopping pad attachment.
The pads install manually, but work well. Included is a 30-pack of the cleaning pads. Instructions for installing them are on the back of the mopping plate.
The robot automatically changed to “Mopping Mode” as soon as the plate is attached. It doesn’t always use the best judgment if there are rugs and carpets around, but it’s easy enough to add “No-Go” areas to keep the K11+ where you want it.
Mopping mode is considerably quieter than vacuuming, and the robot runs slower. My floors were mopped twice earlier in the day (I was running tests on the S10 and S20), but the K11+ still manages to pick up some crud.
Adding the K11+ to the app was a piece of cake –pick it from the list and follow the instructions. SwitchBot always does an exemplary job with its instructions.
The K11+ needs to learn about its environment using “Fast Mapping.” The process took about 10 minutes to complete.
SwitchBot has improved the navigation and cleaning patterns and implemented a new wall-following sensor. The result is a very efficient path that gobbles up dirt everywhere the K11+ can access. The small size excels at reaching under chairs and behind furniture where other vacuums can’t go.
It’s noteworthy to comment that over multiple navigation events, the K11+ only got stuck once on a rug that has long fringe. This particular rug has been a torture test for many robot vacuums and often needs circumvention. The K11+ did not get snagged on this carpet in several subsequent runs. Great job!
Should it be necessary, Go/No-Go and door sill mapping keep the K11+ away from problem areas. I used it to keep it from getting tangled in speaker cords.
Like all the other SwitchBot vacuums, there are a boatload of settings and timers that you can configure ’til your heart is content.
I will put the K11+ in the guest room, replacing the K10+. (Don’t fret – the K10+ won’t be jobless and is looking forward to a new gig after being donated 🙂 ). It will still make occasional trips around the house to cover areas where its bigger sibling, the S20+ can’t reach!
Final thoughts
I’ve used a ton of robot vacuums, but SwitchBot is the reigning champion! I have a K20+ patrolling upstairs, a K10+ downstairs, and now the new K11+ keeping the guest room cat hair and dust free for when my daughter and her fiancée, both with kitty allergies, can have a squeaky clean room. The K11+ received a substantial power boost and upgraded navigation, but retained the compactness of the K10. Don’t judge the K11+ by its diminutive size, but by its cleaning power. Very well done, and thank you, SwitchBot!
What I like about the SwitchBot K11+
- Excellent cleaning, especially for such a small robot
- The small size fits where other vacuums can’t
- Stable navigation
- Long duration between bag changes
- “Swiffer-style'” mopping capable
- The base is smaller than the K10, with a lovely wood-tone cover
- Long battery life
What needs to be improved?
- Improve rug/carpet detection when using mopping mode.
