REVIEW – I have always been a fan of bags in general. I have lost count of the times I have gotten a new bag saying “This is great! I don’t think I will want or need a new bag after this.” Only for the algorithm to throw a wrench in my wallet yet again. So I can pretty safely say the PGYTech OneGo Rope Strap Bag will not be the last shoulder bag I get, but it has definitely earned a spot in my rotation. I kind of love this thing.

What is it?

PGYTech OneGo Rope Strap Bag is a shoulder/crossbody bag with a focus on camera carry. It also has grab-handles in the event you don’t want to use the longer shoulder strap. However, keep in mind that this thing can do so much moire than just carry a camera.

Design and features

The exterior of the rope bag is very well thought out with nearly every detail being taken into consideration.

OneGo Rope Bag 5

The material on the outside of the bag is nice and soft which not only makes it comfortable to grab, but means its a very lightweight bag that doesn’t fatigue your shoulders on longer carries. That said, it is also very thin, and is not going to add too much protection for your gear.

OneGo Rope Bag 7

There is, however, a decent amount of padding under the exterior material. It will be enough to protect against bumps and jostling, but don’t toss the bag full of your camera and lenses onto concrete, or anything harder than grass.

OneGo Rope Bag 6

As far as I can tell all the zippers are YKK zippers, and all feel smooth in operation. Tried and true.

OneGo Rope Bag 13

The rope used for the shoulder strap and the grab handles feels great. Very high quality and durable. That said, someone could still quite easily cut through it with a utility knife and run off with your stuff. So you still want to be mindful your surroundings. Normally, I would not think about things like theft, but if you have $1000+ in camera gear, you kind of have to consider those circumstances.

OneGo Rope Bag 1

Speaking of the strap; it works quite well, and has an adequate amount of padding at the point where it contacts the shoulder. That said, if you pull it do the bag is on your back (as opposed to hanging at your side), then the rope is on your shoulder. its not uncomfortable for short trips or with light items inside, but anything more and it does star to dig into your shoulder.

OneGo Rope Bag 16

The included carabiners on the ends of the strap are fine. As in they are nothing special, but get the job of securing the strap to the bag done. I do like the satin finish to them. However, the way they are designed means that you cannot remove them from the strap. Not unless you cut the strap off them. The straps are also adjustable by sliding the knots to shorten or lengthen as needed.

OneGo Rope Bag 15

In regards to the rope strap overall, it honestly seems (or looks) a bit over complicated, but I kind of love it! There is a lot going on with all the rope going everywhere around the bag, but once you start using it, it works well.

OneGo Rope Bag 12

One feature I absolutely love is the many loops on the front exterior of the bag. I am a huge fan of keeping carabiners all over the place to attach to my bags to carry additional items. And with not one, but six loops on the front of the bag you can attach about as many things as you can carry here.

OneGo Rope Bag 14

The only major negative on the exterior is the lack of any external pockets. Even one slim pocket on the back (the side that would be against your body while carrying) would be nice to put your phone or a passport in.

The other feature I really like is the rope around the top rim of the bag. When pulled tight in the center it sticks up and functions as the grab-handles. While I did use the shoulder strap and carried it daily like that for about a week, I used the grab handles much more often. This is due to being more of a backpack everyday carry individual. So most of the time I kept my camera in the onego rope bag and tossed the in the backpack.

OneGo Rope Bag 8

On the bottom edge of the bag you have theexpandable zipper. Once opened, the bottom of the bag “expands” to allow for more interior room. Great if you switch between cameras or gear daily.

And for what it’s worth, the stitching inside and out seems strong. I loaded this bag with as much as I could fit on a number of occasions and never heard any ripping or tearing.

OneGo Rope Bag 10

Once inside you get to the organization. Not a ton, but some. There is only one interior zip compartment, but at least it extends all the way down the length of the bag so you can fit a number of things in it.

OneGo Rope Bag 2

The camera dividers come in two varieties: one on the end of the interior that is sewn-in. This would be good for a single lens to be placed into so it doesn’t jostle around on the inside and bang into anything else. The second is held in place with velcro and can be moved and adjusted depending on the size of the camera.

OneGo Rope Bag 11

I know this will be different for everyone that gets the bag (depending on what color you choose and what your preferences are), but I love the “forest” green color. Then again, green is my favorite color so your milage may vary.

Final thoughts

Ultimately, I really liked my time with the OneGo Rope Strap Bag, and it will definitely stay in my rotation. I have some suggested improvements which you can read below, but none of them point to the bag being bad in any way. They are just things that would make it that much better. If you daily carry a dedicated camera this is a great bag to keep all your gear together and protected. And even if you don’t carry a camera and just like the bag for other daily use, its going to meet your needs as well. I would highly recommend picking up the OneGo Rope Bag.

What I like about the OneGo Rope Strap Bag

  • Nice amount of padding for gear
  • Comfortable strap
  • Lightweight
  • Grab-handles
  • Six loops on the front of the bag
  • Great zippers
  • Expandable for more gear
  • Color is great

What needs to be improved?

  • Standard carabiners on the ends of the strap so they can be removed and used for other things if you like
  • An outside pocket or two
  • Maybe another pocket on the interior
