REVIEW – I wish I didn’t have to use a case or a screen protector on my phone. I understand that no one is forcing me, but when I’ve spent $1000+ on a phone, I feel compelled to protect my investment. I bought the iPhone 16 Pro Max a few weeks ago and failed to order a screen protector for it. That was a mistake. It’s been rectified with the Gadget Guard Glass Pro screen protector. But only after a slight calamity. 😟

Why I use screen protectors on my iPhone
I mentioned that my iPhone 16 Pro Max suffered a slight calamity. The image above shows a scratch on the display. How did I scratch it? I have no idea. It’s not like I throw my phones around. I just happened to take it out of my pocket one day and there it was.
What makes things worse is that the Gadget Guard package was sitting on my desk, waiting for me to unbox it and photograph the contents before starting the review process. Talk about bad timing.
Installing the Gadget Guard screen protector
The Gadget Guard Glass Pro package holds everything you need to install the screen protector, including an alcohol wipe, polishing cloth, and dust removal sticker for the initial cleaning.
After cleaning my iPhone’s display, I snapped the installation frame in place. Note the little pegs on the top and bottom of the frame.
The screen protector has a protective film on both sides of the thin glass sheet. You peel off the back film first.
Then, you line up the holes in the top film with the pegs on the frame and place the protector over your iPhone’s display. It will immediately start attaching itself to the display.
Once it’s been pressed down, you can remove the top film.
Like most stick-on style screen protectors, you’ll have a few bubbles after you finish the install. You can try to remove them by sliding the bubbles to the edge of the display with your fingers. I was able to do this with all but the bubble over the scratch and another bubble.
Experience told me to wait a day or so before passing judgment, and as luck would have it, within 24 hours, both bubbles spontaneously disappeared. I can still see the existing scratch under the Gadget Guard Glass Pro protector, but I know that I won’t have any more scratches in the future.
I don’t plan to drop my phone to test Gadget Guard’s claims that this screen protector offers unprecedented impact resistance with the G-Form Smartflex tech. I also can’t really test the blue light blocking claim either. But I do think I can tell that the screen is less reflective with this screen protector in place.
The only downside to the Gadget Guard Glass Pro screen protector is that the edges aren’t rounded enough. When I swipe from the bottom, top, or sides, I can feel the sharpness of the edge. It’s not like I am worried that I will cut my finger, but I have had other protectors with a much smoother edge radius, so this protector feels inferior in that respect.
What I like about the Gadget Guard Glass Pro screen protector

- You can pay $10 – $20 extra for $150 – $250 insurance coverage that will be paid if your screen is broken while the protector is installed
- Anti-reflective and blue light blocking
What needs to be improved?
- For the price, I’d like to have seen 2 protectors included in the package
- Edges need to be smoother
Final thoughts
I have mixed feelings about the Gadget Guard Glass Pro screen protector. Yes, it will protect my iPhone’s display, but I have no idea how well it will perform in a drop because I refuse to test that. I also can’t prove how well it can block blue light. However, I believe them when they say it has an anti-reflective coating. And you can pay extra for screen insurance, but that brings the price up $10-$20 more for that add-on. Is that worth the price when you can buy a multi-pack of glass screen protectors on Amazon for much less – and they have a smoother edge? All I can say is that when I buy my own screen protectors, I go for the budget ones. I’ve dropped my phone with the budget protectors before and the protectors have cracked. But my screen hasn’t (yet). So there you have it.
