REVIEW – This review is for bed topper shoppers. The BedStory Mattress Topper comes conveniently packaged, is easy to set up, and just to build excitement, needs a couple of days sitting uncovered on the bed before you’re supposed to sleep on it. The wait actually allows the topper to expand to its normal size and shape from having been shrink wrapped. Is it comfortable, and could I tell a benefit from sleeping on copper extract, bamboo charcoal, and green tea particles?
What is it?

Design and features
The marketing claims for the BedStory 3” Mattress Topper say the topper will promote blood circulation and metabolism, and that the topper can relieve pain and protect the spine. Those seem to be medical claims, and in the U.S. those require substantiation. I can’t attest to the benefits of sleeping on foam infused with charcoal, copper and tea, and it seems BedStory doesn’t either. Information in the package and at the website don’t go into detail beyond the claims.
The foam inside the BedStory topper is also said to contain ‘cooling gel’ to absorb and disperse body heat.
This and all of the several BedStory toppers come in the expected variety of bed sizes, and prices vary accordingly.
Dissatisfaction refunds appear to be offered. The BedStory product FAQ says to contact

to initiate a refund. No time limitations or conditions are specified.
The key question is, is this thing comfortable, and is the bed improved by having this topper on it?
Assembly, Installation, Setup
The directions seem to suggest, then advise against, using scissors to open the tight plastic wrapping. So I used a knife. It was handy. Scissors are probably safer. Just be super careful not to cut the mattress topper and you’ll be fine.
There is a tougher, outer layer of plastic that required cutting to open, but the inner, vacuum sealed plastic that covers the topper can be torn by hand and removed with little to no cutting.
The print instructions say to leave the topper on the bed for 48-72 hours before adding bed linens so that it completely expands.
This photo shows the result of two days ‘leave it alone’ time. It expanded some compared to the photo above the ‘What is it’ section.
Performance
There is not a huge amount of expansion after 48 hours but there is some, and the wait allows most of the wrinkles to smooth out.
About the foam contents, I thought of this analogy; Automotive engine oil is essential for car engines, but we don’t rub it on the bodies of our cars. I need some convincing that charcoal, copper and / or green tea inside of the foam of a mattress topper is beneficial to my health. My body doesn’t touch the foam. It is inside the BedStory topper’s zippered fabric pad cover.
The primary concern of bed topper shoppers is whether a mattress topper adds more comfort to their bed.
So here it is… We noticed a marked improvement in the comfort of our guest bed once I added the BedStory topper.
The most long term users of this bedroom are our daughter and husband who make frequent return visits to the U.S. from their overseas work. They credited the BedStory topper with a nice improvement to the ol’ guest bedroom bed. And ol’ it is.
Our verdict is, the BedStory topper on this bed provides a better sleep and comfort than does the mattress alone.
What I like about the BedStory 3” Mattress Topper
- It made our guest bed much more comfortable
- Great price compared to some other memory foam toppers
What needs to be improved?
- Focus on the comfort benefits and skip the infused foam marketing angle
- Caution on making medical claims without proof
Final thoughts
The marketing description of the BedStory Mattress Topper makes some claims that lack proof. The main thing is, the topper is an excellent comfort add-on and most people sleep better when they are comfortable. We have a memory foam topper on our primary bed and its price was twice that of the BedStory topper. All things considered, I think the BedStory Mattress Topper is easy to recommend, as long as we focus on the main thing it does.
