ARTICLE – A couple of weeks ago, I asked the Gadgeteer team to submit one or two of their favorite reviewed gadgets from this past year so we could share them with all of you. I’ve been collecting all of their submissions to format them into a series of articles that start today with my favorites for 2023. Also check out Part 2 and Part 3 of this series.
I kind of cheated though and didn’t just pick one or two products. I picked six and talked about them in my latest Gadgeteer Video Podcast episode on YouTube. If you’d like to hear/see my comments, please watch the video below and if you like it, give it a thumbs up and subscribe!
If you don’t have time to watch the video, here is a quick list with the links to each of the reviews of my favorites if you’d like to know more about them.
This cup warmer isn’t a super exciting gadget, but I use it every single day without fail and it’s worked flawlessly to keep my tea HOT! If it stopped working for some reason, I would immediately order a replacement.

OnePlus Open review – my new favorite folding Android smartphone!
I finally started getting into folding smartphones this year, and my favorite so far is the OnePlus Open. This phone is also my favorite Android smartphone this year! It’s light in the hand but opens into a mini tablet-sized form factor that is perfect for fun and productivity. I can’t wait to see what OnePlus does next.

Hover Camera X1 drone review – This flying selfie camera is awesome!
I love love love this little drone. It is the easiest drone to use/fly of the many that I’ve reviewed over the years. When it comes to hovering, it’s rock steady, and the follow features are fantastic. It’s my favorite virtual camera assistant.

In addition to getting into foldables, I also got into mechanical keyboards in a big way this year. I’ve reviewed 13 of them in 2023, and this one is my favorite because it has really clicky Box White switches that I like, and I also like the analog knob that I use for controlling volume levels. Will it be my favorite for more than a few weeks? Time will tell, but so far, it’s the one that I keep going back to after each new review.

When you review/use gadgets, you need power outlets. I like the PowerCombo because it isn’t an ugly power strip. I use the retractable USB-C cable regularly and I also like that it has a sticky bottom that lets it stick to the top of my desk without damaging it.

After remodeling my office this year, this desk shelf added a lot more organization to the new desk tops. It also works well with my rustic/wood aesthetic.
