NEWS – Put this under the category never knew it existed, but now I want one. The product is the Orren Ellis LED Bladeless Ceiling Fan. Orren Ellis is a home furnishings design brand specializing in contemporary furniture and lighting. I like lighting of all kinds, and I love ceiling fans, and this one sounds pretty cool. The ceiling fan looks like a typical round light fixture but has a fan in the center. The integrated LED light has three colors to choose from (white light, warm light, and neutral light). The fan measures 16-inches and has 3-speeds (low, medium, and high). The blades are clear plastic, and the fan produces a 110º cycle wind. So it is perfect for small rooms up to 8 x 10. An included remote control makes it easy to control the fan’s functions. The Orren Ellis LED Bladeless Ceiling Fan is $224.99. It is available from Wayfair.com.  (note from Julie: I was editing Mike’s article to post and see that this fan is currently out of stock on Wayfair, but I have found a less expensive alternative on Amazon.

  2. It doesn’t seem to mention whether the fan can be reversed as conventional ceiling fans do. My assumption is that it cannot.

  3. I don’t think that means what you think it means. 🙂 There is still a bladed fan behind the grill. Clearly visible in the product photos. So really it just has no external fan blades.

  4. It’s not a bladeless fan, it’s a bladed fan with a grill. We own a true bladeless ceiling fan. Look up Exhale fans, expensive but absolutely worth it.

  5. I question how effective it can be, where does the air come from to circulate when the fan is surrounded? With a normal ceiling fan the air blows down and eventually rises back up at the edges of the room until it reaches the ceiling, where the fan then blows it down again. How can this happen when the fan is enclosed?

There is no mention if this fan is quiet when it runs. I like the look but I don’t want a hum or any significant motor noise.
